True as that may be, the global interdepency that defines the modern world means that we, and with 'we' I mean the West, is going to become involved nonetheless. Fallout doesn't give two shits about borderlines, for example. And let's face it, climate change is going to result in armed conflicts, if those are not happening already. Ethel may think that the shrinking ice caps are going to have no effect on him and his beloved ones at all, but he may very well be playing the fool for foolishness' sake.
