Being at the bottom of the sea is okay though. At least you will have decent company (uss monitor) :)

Plus, being at the bottom of the sea, you could probably befriend a giant squid, and then go sink some fishing vessels like the krakens of old.

This is why body/consciousness transfer is better, if you're in a fatal position just find someone else and switch bodies with them (Or, take over their body and destroy the former conscious but keep their memories).

Another way to be immortal is to pull a Butcher.

The Butcher was a character in Worm (a web serial by Wildbow); basically, anytime she or he was killed by someone with powers, the Butcher (all versions of them, from Butcher I's consciousness up to whatever Butcher was just killed) would jump inside the killer's body and begin the process of driving them insane to become the new Butcher. Also, the Butcher had all powers of prior Butchers each and every time.

Pretty sure word of Wildbow or canon says that if Butcher was killed by a 'non-cape', an Endbringer or an accident, the Butcher's consciousnesses would just jump to the nearest person with powers; or, if the person who didn't have powers was capable of triggering with them, it forced a trigger event and then jumped into them, creating the next Butcher.

IIRC, canon ended without Butcher being destroyed, and it was Butcher XV who seemed to be the last as everyone gave up trying at that point.

The ability to cause excruciating pain at range and increased durability (I).
Superhuman strength (I, III, VI, IX, XI, XIII).
The ability to see hearts, veins and arteries even through walls (II).
Short-range danger sense against physical attacks (III).
The ability to cause festering wounds (IV).
Short-ranged explosive teleport (VI).
The ability to reshape unrefined matter into objects (VIII).
The ability to cause mindless rage at short range.
Immunity to pain (XII).
The ability to always hit with a ranged attack as long as the target is within range (XIV).
The ability to influence emotions at range (XV).

Edit: for noting purposes: the Butcher could combine their various powers into one, if they were compatible. For example, Butcher IV's power to cause 'festering wounds' (aka wounds that wouldn't heal themselves, couldn't be healed and tended to get infected or otherwise cause more damage than normal) and Butcher XIV's power (hit anything/anyone with a ranged weapon no matter what as long as they were within range of that ranged weapon and weren't behind cover) means that anyone hit by the Butcher's bow and arrow, or guns, would tend to die fairly quickly. Especially if they were aiming for a headshot.

Butcher I, III, VI, IX, XI, and XIII's super strength / durability probably stacked on top of each other, so the Butcher could always throw cars or tanks at you and shrug off bullets and most other weapons probably. Butcher III's danger sense means sneak attacks won't work. So on, so forth. Really, the more the Butcher 'dies', the more powerful they become; especially if killed by other powered people.

I would like to be a reality warper, à la Mad Jim Jaspers. I would be a benign god, albeit one with a twisted sense of humour. I'd behave like a mythological trickster figure, humbling the arrogant and toying with the lives of others for my amusement, but occasionally teaching moral lessons and offering help to the people I felt deserved it most.

Failing that, telekinesis would be cool. Or, if I were living in a world full of people with highly destructive superpowers, being able to project an impenetrable force field around myself and those in my immediate vicinity would be a useful skill to have I think.

Yeah. All of the Butchers are insane, and everyone's consciousnesses transfer to the next host - only to drive the new host insane until they become the next Butcher and do what the Butcher collective says.

Basically, never-ending and only-increasing schizophrenia mixed with DID. The Butcher also tends to slaughter people for shits and giggles because they are batshit insane due to having fifteen voices/consciousnesses in one head.

Also, all of your inherited powers weaken with every transfer.

And you end up driven beyond madness, lobotomized into a state of perpetual depression, and trapped at the bottom of the ocean.

True, but that's if you take the Butcher's exact powers and assume you basically are the Butcher (and if so, which Butcher are you?). I said you could pull a Butcher and have a vaguely similar power.

I'm more saying you basically get to live on through the next person by transferring to the person who killed you, and you bring them and future killers along for the ride each time. The Butcher only went insane because the first consciousnesses did and it sorta domino effect'd throughout future iterations. Also, instead of just sitting back and letting the current person be in charge, the first "Butcher" under my version of the power would be able to decide which Butcher is in charge/control, and can organize the thoughts better, so there's no insanity. Sure, it gets increasingly awkward as the number of people involved increases, but... no insanity, so, hey, that works.

Is there a superpower that makes you a total boss in chess, risk, and strategy in general? Cause I want that.

I want to basically be Grand Admiral Thrawn times 100.

I think you're looking to have tactical analysis.

"The user can create strategies and plans several steps ahead of the opponent, seeming like the user can see into the future. The user is able to elaborate complex plans and strategies and apply them in, not just battle, but any other activity that involves cunning intellect, e.g. strategic games. Most of the users of this ability are very analytical and can understand or anticipate the enemies' moves."

Sounds exactly like what you're looking for.

You'd inevitably end up completely isolated in a changing society you can never hope to understand, watch your fellow man-things evolve into weird creatures, and have it culminate with you floating in an endless void after slowly watching every light source in the universe go out, one by one.

Sure, the lead up to all of those things would be somewhat enjoyable (minus the constant emotional scarring from death and other things), but the end is essentially death anyway. Except your conscious for all nothing happening.

Honestly, the concept of eternity as a whole frightens me more than death.

Depends on if certain theories are correct. Some people think that after a 'Big Bang' there's the whole collapse thing, which in turn eventually becomes another 'Big Bang' at it starts all over again. Then there's the multiverse theory.
