So to get away from the typical political stuff here I had a question. If you were a mutant (a la marvel comics) what would you be like and what would your super powers be?

For me I would be a person who controls sound waves I produce and can use those sound waves to affect people's minds. I would mostly do this through things like making music and singing, though I could also dampen or magnify sound waves. This would occur regardless of the medium the sound is traveling through so earplugs and the such wouldn't exactly do much. The reason I would use song mainly because I would have a stutter, which gets in the way of my abilities. My abilities could be used to the good or the bad, where I can help people overcome there own mental scaring like ptsd, but I could also use it to brainwash people to do what I want.

If I was a mutant I would have the powers of the infinity gauntlet. My super hero name would be 'Metagaming Man.'

I'd be a super-OP mutant with abilities like reality warping, nearly unlimited psychic powers, invulnerability, immortality, rapid regeneration, flight and superintelligence. I'd be easily capable of wiping the floor with Thor, Odin, Professor Xavier, Galactus and even the Living Tribunal.

This way I get to stick around for effectively as long as I want without fear of being killed or crippled, and I'm able to step away from the rest of the world and relax whenever I need it, without leaving everyone else in a hole.

Yes, but you're a mutant. These powers are genetically based. What's more valuable, one invisible near invincible secret agent, or an army of them? Does the CIA gain more by employing you as an agent, or by taking you to a blacksite and experimenting on you, with the knowledge that nothing they can do to you can permanently injure you?

That's why the healing factor is double-edged sword. Any sufficiently morally bankrupt geneticist could torture you in ways that no other person can be tortured, for longer than any other person can be tortured, in the pursuit of creating actual supermen.

Two small powers that I am unashamedly stealing from a friend of mine:

Parking Luck. No matter where or what time of day, a spot opens up right in front of where you're going just as you get there.

Exact change. Whether I want to buy a pack of gum or an aircraft carrier, the exact amount of money I need appears in my pocket whenever I make a purchase.

Maybe don't buy an aircraft carrier, just in case a mountain of pennies erupts from your pockets.

It wouldn't have to be in small coins, you know. Could be stacks of bills, or perhaps a check for the right amount.

Sure, I am physically and mentally a normal human. Maybe even below average in certain categories. I can also defeat anyone, no matter who, by simply retrying every time I lose until I beat them.
