My initial point was made toward videos of ISIS, blame the person who changed the subject. I don't have strong feelings on drug usage, just that it would be quite easy to reduce a country's intake of opioids and other drugs.

I think this is censorship, and people should have the responsibility to know what it right and wrong when they see it rather than being shielded from it entirely, allowing them to develop some false sense of what is going on, and how bad it can get. THIS! This is the argument I have been trying to think of since I wrote the original post.

Ban extremist videos, and if you don't want search times to find them, then make the search terms return nothing, rather than redirecting to more positive messages.

Because blanket redirection to "up with people" is kind of creepy and a tad too like censorship (even if it is in "a good cause") for my liking. I just couldn't think of a way to express is that didn't have me coming out in support of ISIS videos

Yes I'm sure users will appreciate waiting weeks for their video to be verified to be 100% fine, and paying hundreds of dollars monthly to employ all the employees to check every new upload.

It's people's choice what they want to watch. And people watch videos of different content for millions of different reasons.

If I want to see an ISIS video or one posted by an Al-Qaeda affiliate because I'm a military scholar who likes looking at the types of weapons shown in the videos that are used by these groups, I don't want to be redirected to an irrelevant political video denouncing terrorism.

If I want to link to an ISIS video to show my friends how barbaric these people are, ditto.

Or maybe I just follow the war on Syria, and watch their videos to track the progress they're making (or lack thereof).

Lots of possibilities here. There are legitimate reasons to watch the stuff.

That being said, YouTube is a privately owned entity. They aren't under any legal obligation to host whatever people post.
