North American Unification

I've been thinking about this for awhile now... why doesn't Canada, America, and Mexico unite???
Would it be less expensive than a border wall? (See my constitution for a potential Arpeggian Constitution) I think if we united we could drone the shit out of the drug lords and have responsible gun ownership in the form of various militias rather than the individual right to bear arms. Who knows maybe the world would stabilize a little more than where it is now because "the great Satan" (America) is "dead" maybe things would get worse... what do you guys think? Should the continent unite as Arpeggio?

No. There are so much schisms between the three nations (even between their subdivisions!) that Arpeggio would be unfeasible.

first of all....Mexico would never let America own it.
second of all Canada looks like a communist country compared to America
Third of all.....why does everyone know how to make a poll except me?!?!? :( :(

but interesting thought. im sure that would solve 20% of the worlds problems

I do believe it would be strongly unpopular by all three nations.

Didn't they say that about the 13 colonies?

Would anyone benefit from this? Not including people whose only concern is what political maps look like.

I don't even think the three countries should be as they are now.

I'm not opposed to such a unification, but I think it is highly unlikely.

For starters, Canada and Mexico combined are a little under half the US population, so in any such union the former US population would dominate the political landscape unless the union was set up such that one third of the population could control the entire country. I can't see anyone going for either of those setups.

I support annexation under Canada.

Politically we'd have a three party system, as Mexico is more centrist, Canada is more liberal, and America, at I think, is more conservative, so it depends. With all the money we'd generate, perhaps we could help the poor and impoverished.

Most Americans vote Democrat, actually.

As long as it keeps the name of the old country, it's as good as new.

Indeed. We have three very distinctly different cultures. One of my big gripes about the EU is the homogenization of the various cultures of Europe.

I might be naive then. I feel like this system is much better then what we are doing now, straining relations with Mexico and Canada.

[joking]Reunite with traitors to the crown? Never! God save the Queen! Keep your hands off my Poutine/hockey! :p [/joking]

But seriously, I don't think this could work. Things are fine the way they are now, even with an complete asshole currently in charge of the white house.

Also, how would government work? How would a place that still has a monarchy be cool with a president? How would elections work?

As an American, I would support Annexation of Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon to make the US contiguous -Hawaii but the rest of Canada and all the Mexican shit is useless.

If we keep the political subdivisions of Canada and Mexico intact, the they could very well benefit from the American electoral College system.

Most that actually register to vote maybe, but I do think a majority of Americans are conservative like 51% and the rest is either centrist or democrat.

We wouldn't have to worry about things like this if you just let us liberate you in 1812.

Ontario would be overpowered though with like 200 electoral votes I think

I highly doubt that. The majority of inner-city populations in the U.S. are Centrist or Left, and as they make up the majority of the population that leaves the primarily rural right-wing outnumbered.
