But I do know that those problmes will never be solved unless people stay behind to fix them instead of leaving. I should also rephrase my statement, it is selfish to abandon your country solely for oppurtunistic reasons such as "country x has more economic freedom" or "country x has a better healthcare system". I understand if someone is fleeing a country for reasons like persecution. In that case, countries of the same race should help out their racial kin.

Many of them were living as colonists in the New World and were still paying taxes and abiding the laws of the mother country, so they weren't abandoning anything. Of course, some Europeans did abandon their country, the thirteen American Colonies for example. I don't support how the US came into existence, but that doesn't mean I think it should be dissolved and the land turned over to the natives. That's ridiculous.
