I hate to break it to you but there were non whites in America even at its founding. And they served in government since at least the 1820s. The earliest record I could find of someone non white serving in Congress is, Charles Dominique Joseph Bouligny, US senator from Louisiana from 1824 to 1829. He was born in New Orleans and his family from Spain. And that was back when senators were elected by state legislatures. Some of the founding fathers were still around then.
