A legitimate caliph has the right to compel obedience, so majorities have no special relevance. The caliph only needs the fighting men on his side and even then they can be conscripts. This is how Islam has always worked.

Bay'ah predates conventional feudalism, though. Caliphs have no right to compel allegiance. Especially when they are elected illegitimately. As was the case of when Abu Bakr forced allegiance from Ali and killed Fatima.

Well, every state has its problems, and some people get to experience them worse then others. I think Texas is amazing and I know people who'd differ in their opinion.

Or if someone does use the logic that Islam is a middle eastern religion, then so is Christianity.

I dunno. Why did you turn to Islam? Also, Muslims don’t tree hug either so I don’t see what prompted that.
What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

While I do feel that diversity is introduced frivolously to systems at times (see: affirmative action), it is also a necessary phenomenon. I would never reject a region on the grounds of its diversity, insofar said diversity was not artificially created. Bulwarks against natural diversity (i.e. racist housing laws) can go too.

I agree its nessacery but how is introduced frivolously. Affirmative action is not used for population of cities.

Suburbs are a prime example of bulwarks against natural diversity. They were founded on racism.
