Might I suggest you get a blog if you are not interested in genuinely debating folks.

The occupation of India is most worthy of discussion, but you'll get nowhere by simply shouting 'liar!'.

well some people here claim india was

tribal
backwards
poor
barbaric

that hurts me

Your out-of-date, stereotypical generalisations about the British hurt me. For the last time, I have nothing against Indians in general.

That's partly why they're saying it. Regardless of whether people believe India to have been the height of civilisation or not, you're a jerk, and insulting your heritage is very difficult to resist in the face of your prejudicial ranting.

The fact is, although I agree with you on many points, I don't think I'd give you that satisfaction.

That's got little to do with the pie and cake or the ninjas and pirates.

Since it was Jedi999, no. When we saw it was Jedi999, we all realised it was a diatribe about how India was a flourishing, secular utopia before British invasion and about how the British ruined it by stealing all their wealth and turning all the previously harmonious religions against each other.

We're not some sort of hive-mind. Again, I might point out that not all British people think the empire was a good thing.

The reason I won't is because I can't.

I don't know that much about Indian history, which is why I've not voiced my opinion on it. I don't wish to display my ignorance on that subject. I find Indian history pretty interesting, but there are other areas which I like more.

And I've said that the opium came from India, as that is something I know.

And actually address this this time, please.

well you admit the opium came from india at dirt cheap price and not from britain than good thats a start

I will reiterate:

Indian peoples were not forced to grow Opium, because they wanted to. It sold better then any other crop.

Because the people in British government in the 1700s thought it was a good idea! And I don't think there are any 18th-century government figures in Britain alive any more.

I'm British, and I haven't colonised anything.

Directing anger at all modern Brits because of past wrongs is nonsensical and a waste of energy.

Maybe there's a lack of understanding here caused by poor translations of what we are saying (what you want us to say to prove your point) and what you are saying (which you feel eloquently explains your thoughts but confuses us because you miss out massive parts of your gigantic thought process)

Colonization happened many many years ago.

Modern Brits often do not give a fuck about the Empire.

Colonization was not something we took a public referendum on, it was decided by government and military.
