You are the one who has to back up your claims. We do not have to prove they don't exist, you have to prove they do. Burden of proof and all that.

Oh and BTW, I love how I keep reading in this thread about taxes being a contribution...I don't contribute a damn thing...my money is confiscated every year, not contributed.

No, they tax me who works to give to me if I ever don't work.

Do you believe that there are actually people out there who live an actual, enjoyable life without ever working a single day?

Yes, I've known some of them. I resent having to "contribute" so that they can continue to enjoy a lifestyle that in some cases outstrips my own.

No, you don't. They don't exist.

That's definitely not how the burden of proof works, boss. You made a claim, you back it up. Prove to me that they exist.

Okay, the father is the one who proposed the grades redistribution, because he thought he was cleverly making a point. Three pages of this thread have been dedicated to trying to impress upon people like you that that is not how socialism works.

i bought a car. The government is taxing me to buy a car for everyone but since I already have one I'm not eligible. .Like that?

No.

I have another one: that guy earns no money as he doesn't work. I earn money because I work on a farm. now, the government wants to tax me lots and tax him nothing. Even if I get equal treatment as him, it's still unfair as I lost more.

No. A unemployed worker wants to work, but he can't, and not because he is lazy.

    LMAO Yea and the sky is purple! What reality are you living in. A person on the dole is too lazy to work. That wasn't talking about pentions or anything of the sort!

Ok, I'm currently unemployed and I'd like you to come here and find a VERY quick solution.

Prove to them that you deserve the job more than the other millions of people:)

Prove to me why the best of those millions of unemployed don't have a job.

Because the employer is blind and the best will probably get a job somewhere better than that shit of a workplace.

And still there are no takers for such a valuable resource from anywhere. Why?
Because bosses are stupid and you'd probably be better off starting a business with a loan and employing your fellow workers. Really- if you keep thinking that the big bosses are really taking advantage of workers, businesses can never succeed.

Of course bosses and corporations will take advantage of workers. They do it by paying them as little as they can get away with, by offering as few benefits as they can get away with, by managing their hours so the workers don't qualify for benefits, by preventing workers from uniting to bargain collectively, all sorts of things. You cannot be that naive.

Fraud is always frustrating but should not be used as an excuse to punish or delegitimize people who actually need the help.

There are always fraudsters in any endeavour that involves money, points, or scoring. But we don't let the fraudsters dictate policy. We don't let the fraudsters be the excuse to stop helping others.

Oh I agree with you. I had a brother go on welfare...for three months and then he got off. A hand up not a hand out.

That would be because you "started this thread" by quoting something you didn't understand.

It seemed "so true" to you because you didn't think about it, just started your own parade on a tangent from some other poster's unattributed quote.

I suggest you don't start threads this way. Go to bed, and enjoy your Sunday.

EDIT: Taking my own advice now. :)

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Socialist, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Capitalist, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?' She replied, 'Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.'

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, 'That's a crazy idea, and how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the Capitalist party.'

in her second year in college she should take some classes in economics, history, and sociology so that she wont fall into daddy's facile trap when she goes home for break after her sophomore year.

and daddy should stop while he is ahead. that trick only works once.
whatever
