I'll have to take your word for it. In Germany itself Aldi really was a bit crap.

The German way.

An example would be if you asked a staff member where something is. In Tesco they expect you to walk the customer to the product

The British way.

The American way is that everything costs twice as much because the store looks like a Tescos from 2005 which in their minds is a palace of sophistication and luxury because it actually sells something other than smoothies and donuts, and the staff still don't know where anything is.

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

It was a bit too far away to make shopping there convenient last semester, but the mussels in white wine sauce were pretty good.

What I liked were the dirt cheap off-brand liquors that looked kinda like something you'd heard of from a distance, but on closer inspection...

Is costco better or worse? I was considering getting a membership this year.

I went to a Korean supermarket last week which reminded me strongly of a good British supermarket apart from everything being in Korean. You could even buy fresh mackerel which I have never seen in the US (or in Germany for that matter).

It's like Home Depot but for groceries. I don't think too many things are "fresh" (they do have a good meat counter) but they are "cheap as hell." I have commissary access so it's redundant for me.

H-Mart is great and technically it's an American chain.

There's an Aldi near me but I don't see what the fuss is about really. Honestly the place is an absolute tip and it's kind of off putting.

"Under a Labour government the railway system will be brought back into public ownership and a hundred flowers will bloom"

?????

Was this an intended press release or was it published by accident? All fine and dandy to be enthusiastic but that sounds like a manifesto for schoolchildren in your election to the book club.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Sure, it's cheap - but what's so novel about that? Asda used to be cheap but people didn't praise it as some kind of superior fashionable shopping choice.

The luxury yacht industry is booming in the UK.

Sunseeker (based in Poole), Princess (Plymouth) and Fairline (Southampton) have all reported double digit growth this year, and Sunseeker has signed a deal to be one of the main sponsors of FIFA 18, a space normally reserved for the likes of $100bn+ companies.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... -on-brexit

“We suddenly became 15 to 20% cheaper than our competitors in Europe and the US [after Brexit],” said Russell Currie, managing director of Fairline Yachts, at the opening of the London Boat Show at ExCel in east London. “It’s been a fantastic year.”

Currie said 95% of the company’s yachts, the biggest of which sell for several million pounds, are exported so the collapse in the pound has made its vessels better value compared to European and US rivals. “That doesn’t mean that only 5% of owners are British,” he said. “Most of them are British but they are buying them in a sunnier climate than ours.”

More manufacturing jobs! #DespiteBrexit.

So I presume you have data that shows this growth would only have happened because of the referendum.

So I presume you have data that shows this growth would have happened if the referendum didn't happen?

If you read the statement from the Managing Director of a Luxury Yacht corporation (presumably someone with more qualifications than Vassenor from NS), you'll see that he is referencing the effects of Brexit as the source of his success. Or do you not trust experts?

Here, hope I helped.
