Nah Russia went into this knowing it was a bluff. They were merely pushing the envelope. They knew they weren't going to retaliate before anything even happened because they never had the means to.

Unsurprising, Putin is just a bully, he will make a big show when he can, as in Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova, but he doesn't want war with NATO and the Arab League.

It's actually good that they carried out an attack, even if it was relatively light and with no actual casualties. I mean, sure, it was more of a show than a real invasive action, but it's good. The fact that Russia, like I suspected from the start, doesn't have the balls to get into war with the Entire NATO and the Arab league right now (and so, will just huff and puff like a downed bully) is also good. I do, though, hope that they continue attacks.

The strike in Syria is good news, even if it could've been more extensive. As for the poll options, USA/Nato + Israel ought to be separated, although I'd still check both and no others. Syria is just a mess and Iran, Turkey and Russia are no better.

This is amazing; The Fa'ath-scists and Russian Imperialists are finally getting their due! I am worried that Trump will fowl this up with his lack of cool-headedness, however I'll take whatever we get gladly at this point.

For this I have a special rendition of the American classic, Over There:

Instructions: Open provided instrumental version and sing first stanza along with tune.

Donny, get your gun
Get your gun, get your gun
Use it on A-Sad
On A-Sad, on A-Sad
Hear them calling Sharia
Every son of Moderacy
Hurry right away
No delay, bomb today
Make Bolton glad
To have done such a tad
Tell the Russians not to whine
To be proud Moscow's next time!

Sad, cold truth: Countries like Syria or Iraq can't have fluffy democratic government and are safe and sound only when ruled by autocracy.

Libya is just another proof. Same as Egypt.
Both destroyed autocracy and tried democracy, the results: 1. Country destroyed and start of 2nd civil war, 2. Return to military dictatorship
"Those who reached my boundary, their seed is not; their hearts and their souls are finished forever and ever. As for those who had assembled before them on the sea, the full flame was their front before the harbour mouths, and a wall of metal upon the shore surrounded them. They were dragged, overturned, and laid low upon the beach; slain and made heaps from stern to bow of their galleys, while all their things were cast upon the water." - Ramesses III., Battle of the Delta

The main reason Egypt never became a democracy was that there was no sufficiently organised pro-democracy faction to lead the revolution (there only was the Muslim Brotherhood and the army)

Turkey also worked well, until islamists purged the army.
Although, who knows, perhaps the visibly most pathetic and servile general actually plots to execute Erdogan right now :)

We can only hope.

No, that was genuinely why. There were effective pro-democracy groups to create a stable democracy during the Tunisian Revolution (the start of the Arab Spring)

Best I wish for Middle East is contant flow of relatively sane and relatively secular autocrats.

But even an insane warlike, Tamerlane-cruelty-level-autocrat (like Saddam) is better than vote religious nuts like AKP or Brotherhood into power.

The sole success in actually establishing a functional democracy out of many more attempts, which was also because of the absence of strong social conflicts prior to the revolution that in its neighbours would have required some degree of authoritarianism to counter.

So, UK, US and France attacked Syria again. Two military sites and one civilian site, leaving no death and three civilians wounded.

Well, so far it only shows that the UK, US and France once more piss on international law and have no issue with warcrimes. It also shows once again that they have no respect for any law as they consider people/parties guilty without any sort of investigation.
Last but not least, R.I.P. Russia's guts. Surley they were informed again which allowed Syria to evacuate the sites, but they failed in striking back, basically allowing the US, UK and France to continue their illegal attacks on Syria.

Although he does force people to worship him and claims he doesn't shit, so I'm not sure that counts as secular.

to avoid the Syrian situation, after at least three days of protest in the Isfahan, the Government declared martial law and a fucking curfew today. Welp, this, added to the situation in Ahwaz and in Isfahan proper, seems to just deteriorate the country's stability even further.

State atheism isn't secularism. Secularism is the separation of Church and State, in North Korea, religions are heavily persecuted by the State.
