What does any of this have to do with the Sunni Syrians preferring Erdogan to Assad outside of Afrin?

If they are willing to fight and die against Assad and Erdogan will put skin the game, it logically follows he will be more popular. Did my explanation regarding how the rest of us get around the paywall make sense? I don't want you to be crippled on these forums by a lack of tech savy and start going all proofster on me. Sometimes the ethnic and religious component to the Syrian Civil War can be forgotten, I would hope somebody who apparently comments on it so much should remember it.

Also retract that statement yet? :^]

What statement are you whining about this time, TEM? The statement I made several months ago? Will you whine about statements I made years ago as well TEM? Decades ago? How far will your whining and baiting extend? You bait, you whine, and you don't provide any facts. Most of Syria is under the control of Assad and the Kurds. That's a well known fact. You've yet to rebut that.

If you think I'm baiting, you are always welcome to report it to the Mods, they always adjudicate our disputes fairly in my experience :^]

How am I to know that you've changed your opinion? You so bravely defended it before like a champ that I could only believe you'd still hold it now. You still hold it don't you? Its a well known fact Assad doesn't have the support of the Sunnis, look at the battle map, you can see where the Sunnis rejected him. You can see where Erdogan made his gains too. What about that Russian protection for the Kurds again too? Where was that much vaunted support Shof?

If I was being shitty, I could always bring up how you wanted the Kurds gone in the past but please, it is not out of the question to bring up something from a mere month or two ago.

TEM - the issue is whether or not the Sunni Syrians prefer Erdogan or Assad, in all of Syria, not just Afrin. Your attempts to constantly whine and bait the discussion to other matters have been noted. You keep on claiming that the Sunnis don't support him, and yet he controls most of the areas where the majority of the Sunnis live. That is what the battle map that I cited, clearly shows. You are attempting to bring other stuff into the debate, but I am ignoring that. And if you continue to attempt that, I am going to ignore you. Am I making myself clear, TEM? If you're going to do that, you will go onto my ignore list. If you think I'm joking - try me.

It seems you ignore this thing called the Civil War. He had to take them back by force. Yet again, your claim is proven wrong by the evidence and it speaks for itself (thats a good phrase). You can pretend such a civil war never happened by trying to memory hole it. Doing that in a thread about the ME conflicts is a bit ambitious don't you think? I brought nothing into this debate from the outside. You accuse me throwing out bait, if you think that is the case, go to moderation. In my experience moderation has been very fair in the disagreements between us. Please, by all means put me on your ignore list, I hope it will help your stress levels. I for one will be saddened by the loss of a dear debating partner, even the days you were gone left my heart rent : (

Werpland made the assertion that Erdogan > Assad. I asked for proof. You said Syrian battlemap. I said that the Syrian battlemap shows that most of the land is controlled by Assad and the Kurds. It's up to you to prove the assertion. You failed. And yes, there's a Civil War, which Assad is winning. As for the "stress levels" comment, that's simply more of your baiting.

I gave you proof, you are just salty it isn't the exact one you wanted. I even provided you a source but you weren't tech savy enough to figure out a way around, no problem I helped you. I helped you and you are still demanding "proofs!". I can walk you through it if you want via VOIP. I have skype, I am sure you do. I'd be happy to assist you. If its baiting, report it. As I said before, the mods are very fair here and I always abide by their judgements. Otherwise I am going to have to ask you stop slandering me in such a way. I've not baited you at all. The last bit was merely me being a concerned friend. If you feel the need to put me on ignore for personal reasons, please do I won't hold it against you.

You gave me a paywall source, and then encouraged me to engage in an illegal activity, and then called me a "friend" riiight. Does the quote button not work on your computer? You cannot simply quote this NYT proof you speak of? It's not like I'm going to call you out for making shit up about NYT; I'm not snopes: https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/er ... g-machine/

For all I know, you could legitimately be accessing the NYT article, and baiting me, erm, sorry, I mean encouraging me to do it the wrong way. If you have legit access to NYT, why not just quote what they're saying? It's crtl-c and ctrl-v. Quoting articles has been legal on NSG, as far as I can remember.

While my reputation on this forum isn't in question for manipulating articles, I don't care enough to repost the whole thing. Its the same thing as posting it anyway in regards to going around a paywall. I'm glad you reported it Shof, it speaks highly of your character and integrity that you would do such a thing. I applaud you for it.

I didn't report it. My reports say [report] whereas that title says [query] as I know the rules of moderation quite well. If I was looking for you to get a warning, I would've written [report] instead of [query] since you encouraged me to do something that I thought might be illegal, I asked the mods about it. Again, I am not reporting you in that specific instance. I am not looking to raise your warning level. If you wish - you are free to copy paste this paragraph into Moderation.

Also, posting the relevant snippet of an article is not the same as going around the paywall. I did not ask you to post the entire article. Please don't make stuff up yet again, East Marches 2.0.

No no of course you weren't. I take your word at face value, you're an honest man about these sorts of things. I hope you will read the article if and when moderation rules so that you might become better educated on the topic of the Syrian Civil War and hopefully correct your opinion.

Didn't you claim it was my statement earlier?

Why yes, yes you did. And now you're claiming that it's a mere opinion. Do you not know the difference between a statement and an opinion TEM? If you don't, here's a great source to clear up all of the confusion, and the best part - no paywalls around it - just use it to your heart's delight!

I used pronouns until the mods made using wrong pronouns warnable, so I use names instead; if you see malice there, that's entirely on you, and if pronouns are no longer warnable, I'll go back to using them

I came into a thread to talk about the Middle East Politics, not to get into another pissing match.

Take a look at the thread, and see who responded to whom first. It's really not that hard. He responded to me. I told him to stay on topic. He wanted me to retract some opinion. I told him to stay on topic. He didn't. He got foed. It's as simple as that.

I don't feel intellectually threatened by anyone on this forum: viewtopic.php?p=33696463#p33696463

The fact that you do, tells me all I need to know about you. Thank you for said input. As far as the post is concerned, it had nothing to do with intellectual points. Copyright law in America is a bitch, and I don't want to get in trouble for it: http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/06/18/min ... load.fine/

A federal jury Thursday found a 32-year-old Minnesota woman guilty of illegally downloading music from the Internet and fined her $80,000 each -- a total of $1.9 million -- for 24 songs. Jammie Thomas-Rasset's case was the first such copyright infringement case to go to trial in the United States, her attorney said. Attorney Joe Sibley said that his client was shocked at the fine, noting that the price tag on the songs she downloaded was 99 cents.

And if you don't think that's common - think, who really hasn't downloaded a song or two in college?

Congratulations. But once again, it was about the paywall. Had he merely quoted the relevant part of the article, nothing would've happened.

I dunno man, I never shoot people when I feel that they cut me off on the freeway.

Your statement would be equivalent to someone saying: I haven't shot anyone for cutting me off on the freeway, so how could I have felt that people cut me off on the freeway?
