No they didn't. I was saying that an owner had a direct economic incentive to keep a slave non-Muslim, give the Qu'ran's restrictions (thought not prohibition) on Muslim slavery. This is similar to the ruler of a state having a direct economic incentive to keep his citizens non-Muslim.
