Nothing short of Trump announcing his conversion to a Muslim Democrat would turn his base on him.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.

If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

Not his base. I'm not talking about the Trumpbots I'm talking about the conservative republicans the ones that have been wishing to see Obamacare repealed since day one. They are more then the Trumpbots and they will be pissed if the republicans cannot to good on a promise they made 7 years ago

I can't see the Senate going for repeal without replace, but who knows? I do know that they would get turfed out of Congress if they did this.

Politics and rationality need not be joined, and often aren't. A lot of Republicans will just tow the party line, even if they're unhappy with it, and even those who suffer may, out of ignorance maybe or ideology, be happy with what was done. Tribalism and pride are a powerful combination, and they are complimented nicely by echo chambers and misinformation.

I probably have too much confidence in Trump's base. The echo chambers will find a way to blame Democrats for it.

Those are the people that don't need to be swayed one way or the other nor are they the ones anyone should be concerned about. The more moderate voters/people who vote(d) Republican out of desperation are going to be swayed against Republicans, which will end up hurting them. Contrary to popular belief, a rabid base isn't the only thing you need to win an election in the US.

Yeah. If he's going to lose anyone's support, it'll likely be the Religious Conservatives that go first. Gallup puts Independents at 34%, and Democrats at 6% as of June.

George Bush hovered around the low/mid 30s with Independents during his second term, for reference.
