Of course I've just reached the point where I tune out most of the Russia nonsense because I grew so tired of hearing about it so I might not be the best example..

I don't understand why people dismiss the Russia stuff when legitimate concerns are to be had over this.

It's mostly that I was beaten over the head with it constantly for months on end. When shit like that happens I just start to tune things out.

I don't even really watch the news anymore because all those idiots ever talked about was Twitter and Russia.

Scandal fatigue. When you hear the same scandal all the time, or many scandals with little time between them, you stop caring, even if it actually matters this time. Also, to some extent, the "boy who cried wolf" effect, where many false positives make any further claims of positives hard to take seriously.

Whenever people say that, I always suspect it's half reality and half Baader-Meinhof effect, and a pinch of hyperbole.

I kinda have this until something new pops up (once or twice a week at this rate at least) and makes me go 'wtf'. Then I go back into the lull where I'm just jaded with it, then the 'wtf' moment comes back.

I already try to block out commercials unless it's legit interesting to me. Like the BK pulled pork BBQ sandwich, or when BK tries to release a shitty form of something Hardee's already released.
Like srsly Hardee's is good shit mang.

Really, that mentality that people have annoys me more than anything Trump does.

Something about having other people view my existence as something worthy to be made miserable and as annoying as possible just because I don't think like them just isn't a nice feeling.

But...liberals are the ones saying peoples opinions don't matter if they disagree with them. I read it in the comments!

It's disgusting. Why should someone suffer because they are somewhere different on the political spectrum than you? Fucking ludicrous.

Both extremes take it too far.

Sadly it's all reality. It was all over CNN (despite all the shit I give them they used to be the main channel I watched), it was all over Reddit (even in non-political subs when I was trying to avoid that shit, and it still pops up from time to time even now), plenty of people post regularly about it on NSG, my moms boyfriend who is a Democrat talks about it every chance he gets etc etc. After a while you just stop caring about most of it.

Making politics into a spectacle had a very weird effect on society. Ironically, by making it into a spectacle, people have started taking it wayyy too seriously. Like sports.

Oh, so have I, but people using the one-sided approach is always annoying.

I get what you mean actually.
We had one of the tv's at work on CNN all day and for 6 hours straight they talked about nothing but Trump and Russia.
I mean yeah it's important and I hate Trump as much as anyone but there's other things that go on in the world people!
I tried to put it on BBC before (at least they cover global news) but I couldn't get the subtitles to work on that channel.

Of course that's just anecdotal.

He can get away with anything as long as it makes Liberals mad etc.

I also find what they use to make liberals mad to be rather harmful. Trying to get rid of healthcare (Or stopping UHC) or trying to get rid of other social services hurts everyone (Well, everyone who's not rich) in the long run, not just liberals.

Granted, the left does stuff specifically to piss off the GOP too (Both sides do it a lot, sadly), but for the most part, that stuff isn't generally as harmful as what the Right does.

After a while you stop caring about democracy in your country?

Fucking wonderful.

It's about as ridiculous as the Hillary e-mails scandal.

A lot of people on both sides of the American bipartisan system are like dogs with a bone. They just won't let it go. I mean, fuck, how do you people remain interested in something so trivial for so long?

Well, I personally think it's interesting that the President's own son gave evidence of Russia's involvement...

"Lax security and a foreign power interfering in our elections with high-placed members of the current administration and their campaign having been involved with it are exactly the same!"

Yeah, sorry for not seeing that as trivial.

There is nothing trivial about the Russia scandal, and some of Trump's twitter feed is quite important as well.

Legal argument in the courts: "It's not a Muslim ban, honest!"

Trump on Twitter: "This is going to be the best Muslim ban ever! The courts are going to approve the Muslim ban and Make America Great Again! And if they don't, I'll see them in court!"

Some do it because they get tired.

Others do it because they don't want to feel that Trump has failed them, so they just tune it out. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics ... -ignorance

Others, no matter what you do, will change their mind on the facts, but not on how they feel about Trump.

More like I stopped caring about people talking about it all the time. If someone can show me real evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russian government I'll probably say he should get the boot. But until then I'm gonna keep tuning it out.

He met with a Russian ambassador, la-di-da. How many foreign ambassadors has Hillary met... several dozen?

Russia barely influenced the results of the election... at all. What little it did do was fuck with the DNC. America's done far worse to far more countries.

You find an internet troll's ramblings interesting? Well, whatever floats your boat.
