Here's the thing, slugger. We don't measure an act by the worst thing we can imagine. If I walk over right now and slap the shit out of my co-worker I don't get a pass because a few weeks ago someone shot up their workplace. We're both employees. We'd both be doing something to a fellow employee that we shouldn't. If you want to dig up every shitty thing another president has done in a kitchen sink effort to distract from the fact that the guy in the job we refer to as "leader of the free world" just posted a meme that would be weak sauce on World Star Hip Hop, that's your choice. Bollocks, way something is communicated matters - it sets the level and standards of discussion that takes place and consequently determines what type of discussions prevail going forward. If a discussion takes place in an academic debate it prioritizes different set of criteria than if a discussion takes place in youtube comments, if decorum of discussion is set at ad hominem that takes precedence over substance, and most importantly this determines what position is given more favor. One of the greatest threats Trump presents isn't his silly policies, it is his style of politics being more common and accepted because other candidates see what works and take it on - and that goes for decorum, stage and style just as much as it goes for substance.

Other standard republic politicians don't actively cultivate a cult fanbase and undermine any media remotely critical of him in the way Trump does. What he's doing is breaking down the mechanisms that are usually used to hold the white house to account, by normalising being terrible, and framing anything critical of him as fake. There's two ways this can go, either this backfires heavily on him and he loses badly in the next election or even gets impeached - or it actually works, the Trump cult continues to sustain or grow larger, all criticism of him is dismissed as fake and he's able to gain another 4 years on the back of this. That would be pretty bad.

Any military leader or expert can tell you this simple truism.
When war is declared innocent civilians will die, that is and has always been the case throughout recorded human history.

If someone actually thinks that civilians dying AT ALL during wartime is a legitimate thing to criticize someone about then please put forward the doctrine or technology that would reduce all collateral damage to 0.00%.

Until someone does this then it's not valid criticism.

Last I checked, Democrats and moderate Republicans/those not guaranteed for re-election don't get this distracted easily. Unsure if you're aware, but the American people can't do much other than voice about how much they hate Trump and his policies, which is what they're doing.

I can think of exactly one exception, actually: there was a war between the UK and Sweden in which there was zero actual military activity. Pretty sure that one didn't kill any innocent civilians.
