Whoa, let's clarify our terms here: impeachment only means the House has brought charges against him.
How about if Trump sticks it out until they do, and then resigns before the Senate has trial?
Well, Nixon being the obvious closest example, he didn't stick around for impeachment to happen. Once he realized the impeachment and conviction were inevitable, he jumped ship.
I also don't see the benefit for anyone if he gets impeached but doesn't stay around for the conviction. Republicans would still be forced to go through some kind of internal conflict over whether or not to let it get as far as impeachment, and Trump... well he'd be fucked no matter what if he's super-guilty.
