Yeah, it's fairly basic that the R&D costs will be the same whether there are a hundred or a thousand built. The more are commissioned (including sold overseas btw, I think currently foreign orders outnumber the US commitment to buy) the more that initial cost is spread out over each one.

My theory is that the US commitment to buy has been cut so drastically, not to save costs and not because the US can do without them in future, but as a way to put pressure on L-M to make each one cheaper.

The main saving over lifetime that the F-35 was supposed to be good for, wasn't unit price so much as maintenance and parts. Supposed to be cheaper, but that saving is a long way in the future since the cost of maintenance and parts goes up over time for any airframe.

So what's the point of crying out against Trump's FCC's efforts to repeal Net Neutrality with comments and protests if they're just going repeal them anyway no matter how much we kick and scream?

I mean, I'm not one to take things like this lying down, but I prefer guaranteed winning results in my efforts of opposition. I fight to win and win only with the cards stacked in my favor, not to scream at a brick wall that will ignore our voices and lose regardless...

I'm of a similar mindset. On one hand, Religion and Government should stay as far apart as possible (Especially if you look at the US' history), while on the other hand, they've been doing this for 200 years as a sign of religious freedom and acceptance in the country (IIRC, the White House does put on events and shows for other religions too), so yeah...

If the WH is going to celebrate/recognize Christmas (which, I mean, come on) then they should celebrate all major religious holidays. This is still supposed to be a secular humanist republic, right?

Of course he can't, but the Chief Commissioner of the FCC he appointed, Ajit Psi, most certainly can and is going to with the vote he has once the comment filing period is over. The entire process may take months from now and we'd better hope that the courts will see how capricious the repeal will be and in violation of the Administration Procedure Act...

I thought the issue was shifting the responsibility for enforcing net neutrality was moving from the FCC to the FTC (or maybe it was another group?) which didn't have the same power as the FCC, and so would not really be able to enforce the rules.

This is literally impossible. Even if the US and others managed to break ISIL another group with a similar ideology will just pop up somewhere else. Hell, the US hasn't even managed to destroy al-Qaeda after sixteen 'effing years.
