If I were a crass partisan type with no respect for national heroes I would ask

Democrats flew you to the Moon, Buzz. How can you support the other party, when what they did is cut the Apollo program short?

But I'm not :D

Nixon made the right decision anyway, there were seriously diminishing returns of science or space technology in just sending crew after crew to the Moon and every mission carried risk.
