Let's put this in perspective.

Kathy Griffith held a severed head in a photo and almost immediately apologized. This still got her fired from the one time she appears on CNN...during New Years where her only job is to make Anderson Cooper uncomfortable.

Ted Nugent saying this got him on Fox News where he remains.

So while it might be 'ten years ago', he's still riding the benefits of saying that and becoming a hero of the right.

Meanwhile, 'second amendment solutions' has been a code for elected officials, people who legitimately represent the Republican Party, for years now. Including Trump himself.

Now, if you think that this is a faulty comparison to a self-proclaimed D-list celebrity or a dude people were already mad at for beating his girlfriend, fine. But it's going to come off as a bit disingenuous.

You have a point, but this is Fox News we're talking about.

Yes. A news network. Where people go for political content. That gets more views daily then Pirates of the Caribbean. Which people go to so they can watch a Kieth Richards impersonator act like a pirate.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

But here is another one.

Do I really have to specify how many examples of crazies I want to see? What if I said I wanted a dozen? Would that be valid? No it would just be me making an unreachable goal so I have the illusion of winning.

And thanks for the link, that was nine years ago, but i guess it's valid.

That's exactly my point. Moving the goalposts around like that doesn't really make you win arguments/debates.

You don't really need to specify, but the way you wrote that post made it seem like you were moving the goalposts.

Not the best source But here you can see David Perdue praying for Obama's death

I'm not sure. Legally, it doesn't rise to a crime.

However, it sounds like a very cool thing to do. The only way it would be any cooler is if he wore sunglasses and smoked a cigarette while saying it...

Someone shoots at Republicans and I blame the guy who did it and point out the ones who joke about violence towards conservatives.

Someone kills a Labour MP and I blame the guy who did it and I would point out any conservative who legitimizes violence but I personally don't know any who do because I haven't apparently "been paying attention".

Quit trying to make it seem like I'm ok with violence towards liberals, violence is not ok either way.

Pay attention and quit acting like "the left" is inspiring violence while "the right" sits peacefully and quietly.

I mean a joke is a joke is a joke, it's not hurting anyone and it's kinda low brow unlike Griffins ISIS beheading photoshoot which can be taken as an actual threat. I mean he'll probably be facing backlash as he alienates a large chunk of his audience but whatever.

I'm not really sure if it's a joke anymore considering that the White House is getting a say on it:

"President Trump has condemned violence in all forms and it's sad that others like Johnny Depp have not followed his lead," the White House statement read. "I hope that some of Mr. Depp’s colleagues will speak out against this type of rhetoric as strongly as they would if his comments were directed to a Democrat elected official."

They are only saying it beacuse it's on the internet. Trump mostly cares about things on the internet, look at his tweets.
And again, he is being a hypocrite.

I can easily imagine White House staffers scrambling to make an official statement in the hope of keeping Trump from tweeting about it.

It's morbid that Trump's incessant Twitter addiction might be the one thing keeping him a hairs's breadth away from onset of Alzheimer's.

If they saw it as a threat, then why haven't they arrested Ross for saying "And now you’re going to run for president. Don’t you think that’s a really cool idea, you guys? You'll keep them honest. Donald Trump was not president at that time. He was considering being a candidate back in 2011. Most people thought he had very little chance of winning. The government did not know he would lead the nation one day.

Stupid man says stupid shit. News at 11.

But seriously, Depp was clearly making a joke, and perhaps drunk off his ass. So this is not even an issue.

Was the joke tasteless, and perhaps he will be questioned by Secret Service? Sure. But nothing more than that will probably happen.

It's a joke. I consider the joke to be in very poor taste, and indeed rather offensive, but it's a joke and I've spent my whole life trying to defend people's right to make offensive poor taste jokes.
