I am posting this thread to share with the entire Nation States community. Today, marks the start of the annual Yulin Dog Meat Festival. A annual event where hundreds of innocent dogs are murdered and sold for meat. Some of these animals are even tortured and beaten, as many in China believe that the more terrified the dog is, the tastier the meat. Which in my opinion is sick. It makes me angry that even the Chinese Government doesn't have any animal rights.

Recently, 11 million people in China, had signed a petition to end the meat festival. Though, the Chinese Government simply ignored it.

My question to you is, what can we do to put an end to this Genocide.

How can we be sure that these people even come from China? How do we know that some of those 11 million are not - say - animal rights activists who've never even been to China? This time last year, we had a popular petition to stop the EU referendum that attracted hundreds of thousands of signatures... not all of them from Britain, and multiple signatures even coming from the same address. People were literally offering their postcodes on Twitter so that people from abroad could sign!

I mean, how the dogs are put down may be cruel, but killing dogs itself is not genocide. They're being used to feed thousands of people

I love dogs, but dogs are not a national, ethnical, racial or a religious group.

So, they are livestock being killed for the selling of meat. While I am disgusted at the lack of a cruelty free death and the lack of animal rights in China this is not a genocide and I am equally disgusted by cruelty to any animal, livestock or not.

Nothing we can really do about it sense China's government doesn't give a shit.

We kill about 56 billion farmed animals for human consuption each year across the world. Why should we care about dogs more than pigs or sheep or chickens?

What's wrong about this is that every year dogs are killed in a inhumane way. I would agree, putting them to sleep or something. But, to be boiled alive or beaten to death, is a whole another level.

Yes, there nothing wrong with this, because Chickens, Cows, and Pigs are killed too. But, not the way these poor dogs are killed.

The Yulin local government has made public slaughter of dogs illegal and dog vendors claim the animals are humanely killed, do you have proof that they are lying? They do eat dog meat in China. I saw someone selling it on the street where I used to live in Shijiazhuang. But I have never heard this about torturing the dogs.
