The SS plays lofted through balls to the CF, with the "Centering Targets" instruction enabled (it causes the CF to make runs behind the defense). I have my eyes on Robert Berič, but I don't think I can acquire the scouts necessary to get him. What poachers would you guys recommend?
Budget? Age range?
Idk much about PES but I can offer generalities (my best poachers tend to be regens.) Miguel Borja of Palmeiras is a favourite to pick up when I'm playing a team that needs goals, don't know if he grows in PES as he does in other games, or if the brazilian league is even if game, or if you have work permits to get.

Thanks for the tip. I've checked him out and he seems pretty impressive.

I can always pick up Lucas Alario cheap (now he's with Leverkusen so more expensive) and they make a good strike pair... both big and physical, Alario is a solid passer and Borja nice and quick, target man and poacher, works well with a back three for me, could work in your 4-4-2 as well, maybe.
Borja usually runs me 10mil in FM17, Alario usually around 4. No idea if that's affordable for you.

Sadly, one of the voices of BBC television's Saturday football results, has died aged 87.

Gudgin had provided the voice for the famous classified results from 1995 to 2011, and retired a week before his 82nd birthday.

Mike West is currently the voice of the classified results.

Yeah, saw that earlier. Really sad news. Such a great, calming voice as well.

Well, this will be a weird WC. USA out, Netherlands out, Italy out. If Messi hadn't saved Argentina in the last match, this truely would have been the strangest world cup ever.

I was originally glad that the Argentinians made it.

But in hindsight... getting the triple failure would've been hilarious.

OTOH, I can't really use this to full effect:

I would think so, I don't think any remaining contenders have especially noteworthy players. Maybe Matthew Ryan? Idk

I think the teams who're still in the qualification race are Honduras, Australia, Peru and New Zealand right?

Well, Germany lost one more final. Typical Dutch - even come only second in winning most second places

I guess they won't change much anymore with only two play-off games left tomorrow.

Fantasy group draws might be fun too.

So... who could end up surprising people next year? I think Japan could have a good run.

I'm preparing for the amusement of us losing to a "lesser" team again, our expectations are always ridiculous.

Oh, getting into the QFs would be a major success for England. We'll probably either choke in the group stages or finish second and be knocked out by a favourite in the Ro16.

For a dark horse, here's hoping that we'll see some Danish Dynamite blowing through the rounds. They qualified a bit early so I doubt that they'll win the whole tournament but one can dream in the name of entertainment.

England otoh - well, seeing them choke early is entertaining only so often. I'd genuinely like to see them make a deeper run again for a change. QF - perhaps even SF after winning their QF in penalties to break all curses at once?

I fully expect England to get the easiest possible draw, win it, and then get beat 4-0 in the Ro16. Gotta get those hopes up before the letdown.

Well, the Euro playoffs ended exactly how I wanted them to end.

Now if Peru eliminates the Kiwis, I'll be happy.

Ja-midfieldmidfieldmidfieldwhatdoyoumeanyouwinthroughscoringgoalsnotthroughpassingtheballbetweenourselves?-pan isn't going to amount to shit.

That, or I'm biased against them because they always put me to sleep when I'm forced to watch them, which is admittedly only during world cups.

I do have considerable sympathies for Denmark, but otoh, I know fuckall about them.

A Denmark vs Sweden match during the knockout stage would be fantastic, though.

And also cause the next European war, but I digress.

Judging by their performance in 2014, South Korea might make a pretty good run of it (then again, let us remember how Algeria collapsed immediately after the cup. The coach was everything, and he was gone), and their qualification went without hickups. I do have some sympathies for Iran, but... eh.

Africa has... no teams that interest me in it. A pity Ghana didn't even make it.

I wouldn't mind Mexico doing well, if only for the always-fantastic audience. We need more Aztec death gods cursing the opposing players from the ranks.

So.

Hoping for Denmark.

Trusting in South Korea.

Wouldn't mind both.

And fuck Japan + Iceland.

I think Senegal could surprise - they looked pretty good in qualifiers and their squad is decent enough to put up a good show. I'm a fan of their back four.

Good to see Egypt back too.

But yeah, without knowing the draws it's hard to say anything definitively, but it's hard to see an African team making much of a run, although Senegal and Nigeria (if they don't utterly collapse - seems to be a coinflip with them every tournament) might squeak through to the knock-outs.

I'm curious to see if Iceland can keep riding the hype train and make it past the group stage. I think they'll be able to pull off some more surprises.

And I'm hazarding a guess that Poland will do quite well.
