Ban the shit out of that, and lock both the mother and the medic up for a good couple of years if and when it's done.

I was under the impression that abortions that late are extremely discouraged by the doctors as being dangerous.

Like I said before, in spite of these people's approach, and Om's fears, no doctor in their right mind would say at the 8th or 9th month, unless there's something horribly wrong with the pregnancy, "let's kill the baby".

From the name alone I'm going to dismiss it as shit.

Oh, and I see from the URL that this is a Texas law. So bullshit.

It doesn't do anything, really, other than to deal with a very rare procedure nowadays anyways.

The law as it stands is virtue-signaling from the Texas legislature, nothing more, nothing less.

It just says that you can't perform abortions that dismembers the fetus after the 2nd trimester. Which is actually not a thing that happens anymore in abortion clinics.

This is nothing more than virtue signaling so Abbot can win another term, given next year he's up for re-election. The bill is basically unenforceable.

Another token measure they practically want to defend from lawsuits... Texas' legislature seems to enjoy paying bills caused by their own stupidity.

I've noted that the Texan government likes to just save face a lot. The more they stay in the news for some ineffective and embattled move, the better they feel.

I would:

A: Keep abortions legal.

B: Ask congress to create a federal bill that can force public high schools to give sex ed classes to women explaining how to stay safe during "da intercourse".

C: Veto any bills that attempt to enforce this on private, charter or christian schools.

D: Ensure free contraceptives.

In my own opinion. It really none of my business to tell what a woman wants to do with her body. But I also think that nobody has a right to tell a woman that she can't get an abortion for whatever reason.

But once again it's none of my business.

Could be that they realized that the debate has been going around in circles over and over again. Or they took NERV's suggestion and decided to go read Jennifer Government, or Lexicon.

let us begin with silly axioms:

freedom of agency in one's life affairs is important as long as no sapient beings are harmed

freedom of agency includes manipulation of the body and its' forms

freedom of agency is only applicable to sapient beings

sapient beings are entities which can act with whatever the hell "sound judgment" is

and then continue with more silly statements:

the fetus is inside the uterus of the woman

the woman, as a sapient being, can have freedom of agency recognized by a state power

the fetus and the woman are human and belong to a category of creatures which are agreed to generally possess sapience barring extreme youth, age or illness called "human"

"human" expressing sapience at the present time is therefore capable unless impaired by youth, age or illness to use their freedom of agency

therefore the woman can refuse to support fetus with her body

and it's all good
SAS is like 1/3 self hating Americans self flagellating for attention from le enlightened Europeans, 1/3 people who just like to make fun of the ridiculous shit some Americans say, while the other 1/3 are /r/latestagecapitalism tier hatred of the US. You can't even praise America for defeating imperial Japan without someone crying about muh nukes.

Other than extreme circumstances, such as Stalin needing to expand the population of the USSR, I don't think abortion should be outlawed. Preferably birth control would be better but emergencies do happen.

I got my views from an uncomfortable conversation with my dad. I asked him what Planned Parenthood does since I had no idea that it was an abortion clinic. Then after he answered that, I asked him what an abortion was, where he gave me the scientific definition, then branched out about how the fetus is a unique individual. After that, I asked about the Church's views on it, and he said something along the lines of "The Church teaches that abortion is murder, and as such abortion is a sin."
