Implying Trump's campaign wasn't based on false hope.
Trump's campaign was based on anger, not hope. He made people angry, and then gave them all of these incredible hopes that anyone with half a brain could have figured that he wasn't going to be able to accomplish.
Those who believed Trump were the gullible types, not the people who were smart enough to think for one second "how is he going to accomplish all of this?"
The people who knew he couldn't do everything he was talking about stayed at home, voted independent, or voted Clinton out of "I just don't want Trump" (such as myself). I voted for Clinton not because of her message, I voted for her simply because Trump is an idiot, and I knew most of the things that are going on right now in his presidency were going to happen.
There were a good number of people who had legitimate grievances with the Democrat Party's platform. And yet, they didn't believe a word coming out of Donald Trump's mouth. I know many who voted for him simply because he was seen as the less destructive of the two, they don't expect him to help them, they don't expect him to be honest, or effective. They simply presume that he is less harmful in his incompetence, than Clinton would be in her pursuit of negative policies.
