The two skiffs were destroyed and the pirates were set free on the mothership after it had been cleared of weapons.

Remind me to attack the dutch if I ever want to get away with attempted hijacking. Fucking silly.

I don't understand this. Those skiffs and the loss therof are not going to serve as a deterrant.

The laws are still on the books. The crime is that same. Hang them.

Don't limit yourself to the Dutch. ALL navy ships from the international task force ther do the same thing.
No country wants to sue and jail them. And executions are not allowed.

Really? I've heard of them being sent to Kenya for trial in the past. We (Americans) sure as hell blew a few to bits when they kidnapped our people (slightly different scenario, I know), I forget what happened to the one who surrendered, but I think he got tried.

There's something worse than Detroit?

Send me a TG about it. One must know, if only for scientific reasons.

Yep - that was at first when everyone was still enthousiastic. And then they discovered courtcases cost money.
So now they simply take away their weapons, say some stern words and let them go.
Incredibly useful, innit ?

Imagine a luxurious place, filled with scantly-clad hotties, whom you're not allowed to touch... but your 74-years-old disgusting boss can.

Yeah those poor pirates wouldn't last three days. Well unless you put them in the wrong neighborhood then they'll be fine. Detroit's funny like that. Stick em in the east side that'll fix 'em.

If people don't want to actually fend of pirates for themselves, why not hire something like mercenaries to do that for them?
Better yet, hire some of the public protect the ships. It would create a few jobs.
I'd do it!

ugh... not when it costs a pittance to get an rpg or two together and a couple AK's.

The boats definitely cost them more...

I don't think the pirates will care what is "allowed" or not. I sure as hell wouldn't.

It does sound frustrating, though.

Somalia, where boats from developed nations can come and dump nuclear waste in the waters as well as deplete fish stocks. If someone tries to stop these environmentally and economically destructive activities, we can call them pirates and send warships after them.

This came up as a fake news story before, that someone made a thread on. Seems there'd be quite a few volunteers. The problem is (I believe), that many nations don't want the chance of guns being smuggled in by the crews on board, and thusly to do international shipping efficiently, the crews are unarmed.

Sure ya I'm sure tons of people would risk their lives for a low paying job that requires long-term travel and being cooped up with a bunch of other guys.
