I'm not hugely surprised that some Poles are flipping their shit, though. I've heard other stories about Poles being oversensitive about WWII-related things.

Implying Trump and his supporters don't get offended over trivial nonsense and overreact to the stupidest little things.

Poles were nearly wiped from the face of the earth by the bastards, i think they have every damn right to be pissed.

I think you're being a little hyperbolic.
You'd better believe I'm a bitter Bernie Sanders supporter. The Dems fucked up and fucked up hard. Hopefully they'll learn that neoliberalism and maintaining the status quo isn't the way to win this election or any other one. I doubt they will, though.

They want to associate their car with Polish patriotism, it's like if Audi has their care in front of an American flag.

Except Audi clearly didn't have the people they contracted for this marketing campaign on a tight or even snug leash. If they did and this was all purposeful then they wouldn't have pulled the ad.

When I read the thread title, I was expecting something worse. Like, an ill-conceived allusion to Polish culture/history or something.

However, as it is, the photo seems to be pretty neutral. It's a car in front of a historic memorial, without any cultural and/or political connotations.

To be honest, I've seen more unfortunate commercials. Like this (unofficial) Mercedes Benz spot where the car's "good deed" lies in running over kid Adolf Hitler.

Or this Citröen spot which is filled with as many heavy-handed German stereotypes as possible.

This kind of sounds like when the British were outraged that Michael Bay dropped Nazi flags on Blenheim Palace for scenes in Transformers The Last Knight.

I'm a bit interested in the convertible model. It's kind of pricey, so maybe I'll look into a gently used one in a year or two.

Seems like oversensitive people that want to be outraged over things found something to be outraged about.

No, he isn't.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generalplan_Ost

In 1941 it was decided to destroy the Polish nation completely and the German leadership decided that in 10 to 20 years the Polish state under German occupation was to be fully cleared of any ethnic Poles and settled by German colonists. A majority of them, now deprived of their leaders and most of their intelligentsia (through mass murder, destruction of culture, the ban on education above the absolutely basic level, and kidnapping of children for Germanization), would have to be deported to regions in the East and scattered over as wide an area of Western Siberia as possible. According to the plan this would result in their assimilation by the local populations, which would cause the Poles to vanish as a nation.

According to plan, by 1952 only about 3–4 million 'non-Germanized' Poles (all of them peasants) were to be left residing in the former Poland. Those of them who would still not Germanize were to be forbidden to marry, the existing ban on any medical help to Poles in Germany would be extended, and eventually Poles would cease to exist. Experiments in mass sterilization in concentration camps may also have been intended for use on the populations.

Except that it was not a glorification of Nazism, while the Audi case was using a monument to anti-German resistance to sell a German car.
