Most Muslims are not evil or terrorists, but most terrorists, at least the reported ones, seem to be Muslim. And many male Muslims at least in Arab countries treat women as second class citizens, although this is less Islam's fault and more the fact that said countries were anti- woman before Islam was around.

Islam itself would be the reason, in my opinion. When your very prophet himself say that he "would love to be martyred in Allah’s Cause and then come back to life and then get martyred, and then come back to life again and then get martyred and then come back to life again and then get martyred." (Sahih al-Bukhari 2797) you're kinda going to have people taking him at his word, especially since if we're to trust him, only people who die in Djihad are sure to get into paradise.
