If they are actually talking about IS, then no, they will not say "well we have it worse here", on the basis of as Sous put it, "literal rape slave army".

Yeah, there might be a tokenistic reference to "not forgetting problems in our own society" when feminists criticise radical Islam, but that's all it really is.

It's a "tickbox" sentence to signal that when expressing disgust at atrocities in other parts of the world they're not being "culturally imperialist".

Questers is taking a silly isolated sentence or two (while hypersensitivity about cultural imperialism is silly) and taking that away as the central message rather than the other 99% of the text which expresses a principled and justified revulsion. That's not a reasonable interpretation.

I'm not a feminist, but this isn't really a legitimate avenue to attack them.

BBC is reporting a "breaking news" story that Army bomb disposal has been sent to a college (I assume Sixth Form - USians, think of it as a school just for High School seniors) in Trafford.

Could be jumpiness over the current situation - could be worse.
After all, the "suspect package" detonated near Manchester Arena on the night of the bombing was just a bundle of clothing, and several controlled detonations have been performed as part of house searches.

Because our society tried tolerating these "different" people before and it has failed miserably. The lot of these terrorists have been born and raised here in the civilized world, only to bite the hand that fed them, and their communities have done exactly zero to prevent that from happening, more often to the contrary. What more evidence would anyone need that their ilk have no place in a civilized society, their proper place being in the war-torn backwater shitholes they've made for themselves these days?

There's a fundamental difference between us and them. We live merely with our faith, while they live for their faith - a faith to which our concepts of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and inalienable rights and dignity of all people are completely alien. It is fundamentally an aggressive religious supremacist ideology, designed from ground up to be spread by violence at the expense of "infidel" religious groups, it's end goal being the establishment of a global totalitarian theocracy. That is something that must always be considered regardless of how hard the moderate Muslims might try to whitewash their religion.

Which is why there can never be peace between us and them, nor should our tolerance for their beliefs in our lands be any greater than theirs for ours. What we see as tolerance of the different, they see merely as weakness to be exploited. What we regard as an ethical obligation, they view simply as cowardice. What we view as fundamental values of our society, they see as false infidel practices against their god's commandments. And more importantly, where we constantly re-evaluate our ways and values, upgrading some and adopting or discarding others as necessary, giving in to moral relativisim in result, their values and morals remain constant and unchanged, because unlike ours, theirs derive from a supposedly-divine authority. We can with time come to the conclusion that some of our earlier practices have been oppressive and unrighetous, and amend them accordingly. They cannot, nor ever will, because such is their god's commandment, and there is no crime or atrocity that they'd be unwilling to commit if it can be justified as serving their religious tenets.

That is why I think Western nations ought to take no more chances with their sort and expel if not all, then certainly the majority of Muslims from their lands. They have, after all, time and time again proven that they cannot be trusted to live peacefully among civilized people.

There was a BBC article the other day which had a reconstruction of the blast, but I can't find it. It may have been taken down as it reproduced leaked information, or was deemed an insensitive level of detail. Or it's simply been lost in the shuffle of new news.
It suggested that Salman may have detonated his device stood in the dead centre of the foyer, probably trying to achieve mass casualties. When detonated, the device was of sufficient power that Salman's torso appeared to have been blown into the arena itself, through the foyer doors.

The fatalities, with a handful of exceptions, were believed to have been standing in a rough 270-degree circle segment around Salman's back, and no fatalities between the suspected point of blast and where his torso was found. A few other casualties were significant distance from Salman, at the periphery of the foyer area.
One person was killed descending the large staircase, one person stood at the box office, and one person stood by the doorway to Victoria station, if I recall the reconstruction.

This would seem to corroborate the "backpack" theory as opposed to a professionally-made suicide vest, putting Salman looking towards the arena doors, waiting until he thought there was sufficient mass of people that he may cause mass casualties.
I have seen online an image that appeared to be taken moments after the blast, looking from the arena through those exit doors into the foyer. The person taking the image could have been stood only scant feet from Salman's disembodied torso.

The BBC is also reporting the story of a woman who being on her mobile phone likely saved her life. A large-diameter piece of shrapnel struck her phone, destroying it, before passing through her cheek and lodging in her nose. She also lost a finger.
Had the phone not slowed and partially deflected the fragment, she would certainly have been killed.
