Home Secretary Amber Rudd not best pleased with the US.

Counter-terrorism detectives have spoken in the past about how important it sometimes is for them that names of suspects do not make it into the media. They say a delay of around 36 hours, before the public know who they are investigating can allow them to arrest known associates of the suspect before they know police are looking for them.

Information about the bomber's identity first emerged in the US - with American TV networks CBS and NBC naming Abedi as the suspect.

So, I get why CBS and NBC would release Abedi's name. Gotta get dem ratings. But what gobshite US official got told Abedi's name and decided the thing to do was call the press?

He added: "Ms Rudd, I'm told, got on the blower to US officials and gave them a piece of her mind. Officials say they are in no doubt about our views on that."

As we were discussing news of similar attacks earlier, he was always against those attacks, saying there’s no religious justification for them. I don’t understand how he’d have become involved in an attack that led to the killing of children.

When he failed to complete his degree at the university of Salford, his parents moved back to Libya (Salman had been born in the UK and lived here presumably all or most of his school life), they tried "several times" to bring him over there with them, for whatever reason.

We have this view of Libya as still being a lawless civil war, but apparently the death toll at the moment is incredibly low, suggesting parts of the country are actually safe to live in.

You don't need to make it to have huge radius of effect. Just enough to kill within a 25 m radius to be effective.

The situation in Libya is actually pretty stable. Last time I read about it, there were two separate factions claiming to be the legitimate government, and then you have ISIS' hard-drive back-up trying to gain traction but more or less failing to do so. The situation has changed since the fall of Qaddafi and Benghazi, for sure.
