Never claimed I was... but I do think most of us can agree that, even if the internet is, in practice, a free-for-all (specially if you count the deep web), that does not mean everything should be tolerated. In my personal opinion, white supremacism is one such thing that deserves to be kicked out of the internet... and human civilization as a whole, while we are at it.


Or I can actually do something other than just wash my hands, and criticize those others, and advocate for them being no-platformed when possible.

I'm proud to say that I got my students union to ditch its no-platform policy, and I think that that other public spaces should do the same. Like the views or not, they're just as genuine as your own.

Believing that some groups of people are biologically inferior based on their gender or skin tone is "just as genuine" and deserving of a platform as not believing that?

I don't think you'd be doxxed; at the end of the day, most people (even those on /pol/) don't have the time to dox every individual they don't like. I haven't seen anybody doxxed on /lrg/ which often goes against the white nationalist crowd on the board. But if the amount of backlash isn't your cup of tea, I can get that.

Recently, three top moderators for the subreddit r/The_Donald were terminated, prompting the subreddit to "go dark" in protest for a short period of time. This is one installment in a long series of scuffles between the moderation of Reddit and r/The_Donald, including being banned from linking to r/politics, and there being talk of the changes to the r/all algorithm being done to keep r/The_Donald off of the front page.

What do you think of this situation, NSG? Is it right to impose different rules on different communities within the same website? Does Reddit have a liberal bias? I'd list a third question but I lack one, so I'll give my opinion.

I think this is probably not the smartest move, and I think Reddit's favoritism towards certain communities is wrong. Now, of course, I rarely use Reddit, and I'm not even a big fan of r/The_Donald, but at this point, I'm pretty sure I dislike Reddit's moderation staff more.

Eh, its probably marketing. They likely found that Trump proves unpopular with their target demographs, so they're taking a stance against him.

This has happened before with another pair of subreddits in FatPeopleHate (pretty obvious) and a racist subreddit. I wouldn't be surprised if TheDonald is shipped off to Voat in a week or two. Just when Voat said they were running out of money, they get another cast of exiles from Reddit.

Id like to know what rules they broke before passing judgment. TD just says that they are a special set of rules and don't give any more information. If it's something as simple as their mods got booted for harassment then TD is definitely in the wrong.

The sub has been known to brigade (mass upvote of pro-Donald and mass downvote anti-Trump posts) in other subs once they're spoken of in a bad light. They pretty much have led to a ban on political discussion in many subreddits as a result of their brigading ways.
