This ISN'T GOOD. It means that climate change is getting worse.

I was thinking more Siberia and Canada.

Not only that, but fossils of the marsupials that lives there before the continent became a giant ice box!

Yah, your right in that these arwas would become more welcoming to darming, but at the cost of the loss of the far more productive farmlands of China and America to flooding and desertification.

We'll also find the Nazi Antarctic base and the ancient alien colony, as well as the City of Gold, Atlantis, and D. B. Cooper.
Then we'll blow up the Nazi base, steal the aliens' tech, harvest the City of Gold, rip apart Atlantis to make it a tourist attraction, and then send D. B. Cooper to Guantanamo.

That land would be mostly marsh and bogs if it were warmer.

Another 70 years later it will be 0.9%, still less than 1%.

It won't be going green "within a few decades" at the current rate, so stop exaggerating.

This is only the case if the rate of increase is, or will remain, linear.

It is unlikely to.

Give me a good reason to believe it will significantly change.

The plants are good, but seriously, this also means global warming is worsing, and definitely true, not false as some alternative facts claim. Also, aren't you all worried about the rising sea level of the world from the melting of the ice

It's never going to be prime farming land, due to tundra being frozen swamp (not frozen topsoil) and the extreme variation in day length.

Meanwhile, the thawing will release masses of methane (and CO2) which will accelerate global climate change.

Any upside is tiny compared to the disaster in progress. EDIT: Antarctic, not Arctic? Most of the above still applies, though warming in Antarctica is much less to date than warming in the Arctic.

Well penguins and seals mainly need fish and cold water. They're not dependent on actual ice (like Polar Bears are) so they'll survive unless we take all the fish.

There's probably other wildlife I'm not aware of. Birds?
