There are two ways to look at this: a legal side and an argumentative side.
If we look at it from a legal angle, you should provide the evidence for him being a part of a terrorist organisation, since you're the one making the claim.
From an argumentative standpoint, you should provide the evidence for him being a part of a terrorist organisation, since you're the one making the claim.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

I bring this up, because I wonder if all there are people out there who jump to blame Muslims a hundred time a day.

Probably because Muslims, extremists to be precise, are behind most of the recent Car Ramming attacks.

You cant really blame someone for thinking a Muslim was behind the wheel.

In fact I can. A handful of car crashes have turned out to be a terrorist deliberately trying to kill people. A handful out of thousands. When there is a car crash it is almost always not terrorists. So hearing about a car crash and thinking it was a terrorist is stupid.

The holy war baiting fascists sure didn't waste any time bringing their evil gloating to this thread. Y'all are the best argument ever made for reeducation camps.

As for the incident... sad to hear that there were fatal casualties. Hope the injured have a swift recovery. :(

I think it was more the location that made this noteworthy and brings to mind terrorism. A car crashing into a crowd in a high-profile location like Times Square certainly brings to mind something like the attack in London or other attacks in France and Germany. I certainly can't support people automatically going "Must have been a Muslim terrorist at the wheel ban them all!" before hearing all the facts, but you can hardly blame people for thinking terrorism is a possibility when such events occur.

Of course it was an initial possibility.

It wasn't being treated as a possibility though. It was treated as a total certainty.

I'm referring less to you, and more to the posters saying things like "allahu akhbar    " (if anything, a great reason why the bow smiley should join the palm smiley in the site wastebin).

But you were certainly leaning on that conclusion far more than necessary. It was just needless. Why did you, of all people, need to "prove it" anyway? The news was going to do it anyway, for all of us.

Then why did you trust the media to be accurately reporting that this incident had occurred in the first place?

Only a few news agencies said that. Most said that it was 50/50 by election day

Fair point, though I suppose those other attacks were also trucks, not cars, so there's that too. Still, London does exist as precedent.

In this, we are in complete agreement. Honestly, we all know that there is a segment of the internet with a major and rather troubling hatred for Muslims, and they take anything that might have a wiff of terrorism as an opportunity to pounce on the second-largest religious group in the world.
