My friends Brian (LCMS) and Courtney (RCC) are contemplating marriage. They intend to have (many) children and want to unite in a single faith. Which faith makes the most sense for them? (IOW: who has to change less to convert)

I would say which every part the religion is least important to.

Both should leave the church and become atheists imo, but that not happening.

Also, expand your OP and add your opinion or else this is risking getting locked.

They should both convert to the Aztec religion.

Whichever one is best for the children, if it's the children they're concerned about. And why not both convert to something different?

Okay, here's my take:

Lutherans seems to be Catholics who don't believe in transubstansiation and ignore the Pope. (I'm a "Cafeteria Catholic" FWIW, Courtney is quite devout)

They should both become agnostic atheists, and raise their children as such. Also, I have no idea what RCC is.

Well, as you say, LMCS doesn't literally believe in transubstantiation, so that's a plus if you want to raise kids who can properly compartmentalize fantasy and reality.

And I dunno, UU? Least there the kids can explore all sorts of beliefs. But if you mean a religion that actually has a more or less specific set of beliefs, I guess United Methodism, if only because I'm familiar with it.
