I'm not sure this is any fun as a thought experiment either and, like I said, the choice of parameters is rather disturbing.

As in most drastic thought-experiments involve murder rather than rape, or as in this is something a repressed sicko would day-dream about?

Setting up scenarios by which one 'had to rape' isn't really an interesting dilemma - this question can be resolved by plenty of other scenarios if the actual point of interest is 'loved one or stranger'.

I don't have a significant other I care about yet, and because I strictly abide by my set morals and principles; the remaining option for me to take would be to resist.

Basically I'd try to takeover the role of the hero that saves the day (and the damsel in distress). I don't care how many guards I'd have to shoot/fight my way out of- in the end the villain and his henchmen would be defeated and after the rescue is complete; I might even be able to ask the girl on date and if she says yes and it works out, happily ever after.

I think for me, it's because the victim is left alive, and has to live with the fact that she was raped for the rest of her life. That's not an easy burden and can have far reaching implication. I mean with murder, you're just ending a life, after that life has ended, then it's done. However with rape, the effects continue after the act has happened.

Murdering someone for a loved one is considered 'honorable' and 'acceptable', raping someone is not.

...among other reasons, I suspect there's some misogyny involved in the disparity because, traditionally, a female always 'belongs' to a male and, therefore, by raping you're besmirching the honour of more than just a female, you're either making her unmarriageable or you're 'taking' another man's sexual property.

Personally I find rape worse than murder but for me it's because one lives with the effects.
