That's nice, that you have the ample liberty not to care about the big decisions made in government and where the country is shifting politically.

Many of us do not have that liberty because said politics shift is going to affect us in ways that are important to us.

I do indeed care, but not enough to go out and be an so-called activist trying to bring about some quirky future. I may hate the system, but I will still vote in local elections. I can't make a big change in government in the manner I want, but I can still do something by at least using my right to vote. Whether or not that affects things is really pointless.

My problem with that defense is that they're trying to go for the "he's not as well-versed as we are with words" angle. However, a little bit of thought makes that defense nonsensical because the problem with Trump is not that he's simple-spoken, it's that he says stupid things.

My problem with that defense is that they're trying to go for the "he's not as well-versed as we are with words" angle. However, a little bit of thought makes that defense nonsensical because the problem with Trump is not that he's simple-spoken, it's that he says stupid things.

To be fair, they don't really have a lot of options. They can't really make any specific arguments on his behalf because 1. Trump apparently doesn't even bother communicating with his own staff about what he's thinking or doing, much less Congress, and 2. There is an approximately 100% chance that he will throw them under the bus by Tweeting the exact opposite thing 2 days later.
