Yeah, I signed a paper during the enlistment process volunteering to serve on a submarine, but the process to earning my dolphins is pretty rigorous. Nevermind the 18 months of nuke school it will take to get there.

Of course, the only possible war that Indonesia will wages is if Indonesia and Malaysia and Singapore got into a fight. OR Australia decided they had enough of Indonesians and decided to vanquished Indonesia once and for all.

For obvious reasons we can assume that Russia/China is willing to aid Indonesia since obviously USA/UK will aid Australia...if their casus belli is logical.

I'm on an aircraft carrier myself, and was dropped from the nuclear field due to my color vision. I pal around with the nukes onboard a lot, and I'm warning you right now. They. Are. Miserable. At all times. You need to have a severely high tolerance for nonsense, and expect that, wherever you are stationed, you will never leave. You will be tied to that nuclear plant, either carrier or sub, for your entire naval career.

No one would be foolish enough to draft me. One, have a serious problem with authority figures.

You may laugh, but its true. Yes, me. Authoritarian dictatorial former mod from hell, has a problem with authority. Especially if it seems to be unjust, or being abused. Unfairness is high on my 'things that must be addressed' list, y'see. And there's far too much structure, rigidity, and unthinking 'yes sir' in the military for my tastes. Also, am prone to procrastination, having 'that look' apparently on my face (the one that gets you into trouble with authority types), am not in shape for it, have health issues that'd preclude it, and am probably on some list somewhere of 'people who will be trouble when the revolution finally kicks in' or the like.

But were it a matter of choosing, obviously I would choose to be in the field where I got to be in some position of power. Less authority figures above one the higher one goes, after all. And what better position to be in to try and assure that things are being done fairly and with some measure of forethought, neh? Barring that, intel & interrogation. Because why not.

That bad eh? I am assuming that's why so few nukes re-enlist. Now how are the job offers for former nukes seeking civilian employment? Is it anything worthwhile?

I just don't like the thought of being exposed in the open. I feel just fine about serving on a sub, a position which has historically been the most dangerous in the military during large conflicts, but being infantry and facing a hail of bullets? No thanks I'll pass.
