Technically, so long as you're below/above +/-7 D refractive error for far vision you're not out of the running for a good few military's. The trick to doing well on a Snellen or O chart test is less in actually being able to actually see what letters or symbols you're reading and more being able to interpret what those fuzzy symbols are. I've seen a few of those military issue Oakley's, they're not likely to be lost in combat. They keep to the face well enough. The only problem is lenses being rendered unusable, but as far as I know force that's going to fuck with the lenses used is more likely to cause greater problems than sight.

Depends on the task. commercially available 1.67 index lenses, what you're probably using right now, can be cracked with a bit of heat and elbow grease. I've got the scars to prove it. Your frame probably has temples that mostly rest on your ears and nose bridge, instead of hugging the head, and probably lack a retaining band. In short, what you've got probably ain't meant for field use.Immoren wrote:Skalvinos wrote:Did THAT really happen? Wow.

I could've gotten sent issued pair, but for some reason I seemed to be always too busy to get those, given the fact my own seemed to work fine.
That's nothing to brag about bruv, north americans and richer euros can let in folks requiring corrected vision cuz they can afford to throw them ballistic eyewear.Skalvinos wrote:Heh. Here, soldiers with glasses are pretty much the rare ones.

Pre-correction also factors into ones far-vision grade. Both are measured, just like in any normal clinical setting.
