To be fair to Gauth it does seem to be exceedingly common that someone who goes out of their way to seem heavily against something is actually into it.

So here's the thing. IT'S NOT EXPLOITATION IF IT IS CONSENSUAL!

Now rape videos on the other hand are completely awful. But seriously if an adult woman wants to sell her body then it's her choice! You can't blame her choice on "White men wanting to exploit her"

Also your "sources" are a Facebook page and a strongly feminist news organization.

So, is it fair to say that your argument is a minimum wage will eliminate the poor going into porn? Because I look at the countries with the highest minimum wages in the world and I'm pretty sure I could find a porn industry in each of them regardless .

It's a facebook event for a conference/panel discussion on the topic, so I don't think this is a fair criticism.

It's not like she linked a Facebook meme saying "pornography increases rape by 39% no really trust me".

Bothered, but not shocked, I imagine.

Anyway, I'm at work, so there is no way I'm going to google this right now - but can anyone actually provide evidence of a correlation between economic background and employment in porn? :eyebrow:

I'm never shocked with Chess anymore. And yes, yes I can -- my involvement in burlesque was clearly because I wanted to feel like an object for men to abuse, and not because I thought it was fun and liked the outfits. :p

OP could probably found a more "reputable" link for the conference however, so you're not entirely wrong.

That would've been a better approach since, as in my case, I simply skipped over it without a second thought because I immediately attribute facebook with self-centred drama.

Hehe. Well I take your point, but there's lots of reasons why men might refuse sex. one is that they are already in a committed relationship; they may also not like or trust the woman (or man if they're gay for instance) even if they think they're hot, etc. The point is in popular media women are not depicted as being required to respect men or boys' reasons for refusing sex.

I worded that kinda wrong. I was actually trying to agree with you.

That would depend. If she was drawing absolutes from a scientific, peer reviewed research paper -- I'd dismiss it outright. If she was suggesting a hypothesis on such, then I could go along. Don't make absolutes unless you've got some hefty meta-analytical goodies for me to read.

While scientific papers suffer the from the fact that any human creation is flawed in someway, I think it can be argued that the credibility of her argument isn't reinforced with links to Facebook.

Pornography should be illegal. The producers produced pornography just to satisfy some pervert people's demands of watching perverted things, exploiting them for money. They also used various tactics to attract new customers who don't watch pornography before to watch them, again just for money. The producers must be punished for making pornos
