Through an online friend in February.

I was 13. I was looking up something about yanderes, I was likely bored, and Vultasia's factbook appeared upon my screen. I read it, thought it was nice.
Being a huge history nerd, I knew I'd love this game, especially since I had already had an OC who was the dictator of a country called Soyouso. Well, outside of NationStates they're a war god, but I made them human because I didn't wanna godmod in roleplays (though I was too shy to actually go to the forums until this year). The war god ended up instead being Flippy from HTF whom I was super obsessd with at the time. AKA the bear on the flag. ...I was 13 years old and in my "I'M YANDERE AND I HAVE AN EVIL SPLIT PERSONALITY DON'T MAKE ME MAD" phase at the time, okay?

And that is how this clusterfuck Soyouso happened.

Felt narcisistic enough to want to start my own country, thna when I signed on I prompty wanted nothing to do with it and decided General was good enough, if not for the occasiona l factbooks post.

It was a dark summer night, wolves where howling in the distance. The mods had just finished their nightly sacrifice to the internet server and lo I came opon this scene. The mods then gave me some of the brew and I was hooked

Hm, I'm not certain. It was in 2007, or so my profile says, and I was in college then, so I could have been working on some kind of project, or perhaps using this to stretch my writing muscles. Although that's more of an answer to why I started using it and not how I came across it. Fate? Luck? Coincidence? In all likelihood, I was just bored and browsing around for something to do in between studying and sleeping. Don't like parties, not good with women, so why not make a nation? I'm pretty sure that was the impetus for many a real life nation.

I discovered NS through JayisGames' review many years ago, back when they still mostly covered web games.

I got roped into it by three mates on xbox, they wanted to do a whole rp region thing in which would slowly turn into a world war thing, I decided because at the time I was a major idiotic communist and weeb I'd make two nations, my first was a communist Poland from the Cold War, then I made this and had the history of this nation based on an alternate Muv-luv/Schwarzesmarken history in which West Germany united with the East and Schmidt was incharge of it for a while the Beatrix Brehme became leader. Then it kinda spiraled out of control and I've lost count of all the nations I've made on here that are even active. So yeah.

A YouTube comment suggested Nation States to me.

I was in Creative Writing and someone showed me the site.

I have never gone back.

...I wonder if this site will still be around in 10 years or so....

I read Max Barry's book "Lexicon" and I decided to take a stroll on his website and found this one

I came across the TV Tropes article on it and was interested, so I joined up.

Found it through some random politics test online years back.

Wanted to simulate how I would make a country. Searched it up, found tis.

I found the site when I tried to search for a game where you manage your own nation. I've foundedother nation sim games before, but NS is the best nation management game out there

I, somehow became interested in a game in which you build your own country. I tried several sites before, but none had the community nor charm which NationStates does and still has. Now I'm stuck here with great acquaintances OOC and the ever-expanding form of entertainment that is the NS General Forum. As well as interesting RP for whenever I have the time.

Surprisingly, my social studies teacher made us do a project that involved making a nation on NS and making factbooks and the like on it.

I lost the old nation I used, so I created another one. c:

Looking up flags/alternate history. Came across a strange looking one. What was it.."post apocalyptic empire of yermany". Thought "why the hell not?". Never thought I would last this long XD
