If the Constitutional Assembly goes ahead and the last democratic institutions go, then I am not seeing any peaceful way out of this any time soon, and I think DolarToday would then report much higher parallel exchange rates than now (currently 9,390.95 VEF per USD or 10,893.50 per EUR) as capital flight continues.

In any case, I wish to reassure NSGers that the events in Venezuela are not affecting my current state of mental health. That is not to play down the general sense of sadness to see Venezuela in such a state with the unrest and hunger.

However, I do not believe that the protestors will comply given how tired they are of Maduro and his government. The death toll from the current wave of protests has reached 106. Two airlines, Avianca and Delta, are announcing that they are withdrawing from Venezuela due to the economic situation, as well as the condition of the airport infrastructure.

Colombia has quarantined areas near the border with Venezuela since cattle in Colombia have been found to have foot and mouth disease. Colombia says the foot and mouth (F&M) more then likely came from cattle smuggled from Venezuela. The governor of the Ven. border state of Tachira says there is no F&M in Ven.. Colombia vaccinates its cattle and is certified to not have had F&M disease.

the most recent cases stem from the ongoing cattle smuggling from neighboring Venezuela, where the government has been unable to adequately vaccinate cattle and wipe out the disease for years.

So it really seems this came from Ven. cattle which means how bad is this situation in Ven. So far Ven., and Chile stop meat imports from Colombia. Mexico stopped all diary imports from Colombia. Colombia has also eliminated over 500 cattle. Colombia is also increasing border security alongside there border with Ven.

The unrest also continues to reflect on the bolívar "fuerte" parallel rate, now trading at 9,787.79 bolívares per dollar, or 11,451.71 bolívares per euro.

According to DolarToday, the black market rate has crossed the 10,000 bolivar mark, now trading at 10,389.79 per dollar, or 12,156.05 per euro.

I communicate this because it is still not a good time to buy the latest notes for my collection. The 20,000 bolivar note on sales on eBay is grossly overvalued now. £5 to £7.50 is the best offer I can make for that denomination at this time.

And the opposition will not be complying with the protest ban, amid panic-buying prior to the planned defiance.

Been paying attention. Based on vines and twits from last night and more news on today, including shootings and a bomb attack, just can say to stay safe. Hopefully freedom will comes soon, but it will need the MUD or some political organization, otherwise its just a power vacoom what follows.
