Without a doubt, the government needs to just be rebuilt from the ground up. Though, I fear there could still be corruption issues in a new government. I am sure Venezuela will not recover anytime soon. I remember a while back they temporarily opened their borders with Colombia and the stores in the Colombian towns across the border were wiped clean, nothing was left on their shelves. If that isn't a sign of a state that won't recover (anytime in the near future) I don't know what is. More socialism is not going to help them because their economy is still in the crapper.

They can't do anything, really. Their current government is doomed, will probably be replaced by another government that will face the same problems of being hogtied by their voters.

Instead, they seized the means of production and property (including residential) of Venezuelans, collapsed the economy and now the American businesses left because they couldn't operate in Venezuela anymore due to the massive difference in black market and official exchange rates between the bolivar and the dollar.

But they have the chance to be, Maudro needs to do stop with these social democrat polices and seize the means of production.

That's not going to fix anything. You can't seize the means of production when the means aren't producing anything. Venezuela is facing massive shortages of basic necessities.

Corruption is basically part of everyday life there. It is incredibly pervasive in all government institutions.

Technically incorrect, you can certainly seize means that are not currently producing. What you mean to say is: you can't seize the means of production if there are no means to seize in the first place.
The Venezuelan government, probably out of laziness, underdeveloped all sectors of the economy that did not involve its primary export. This has never ever ever been a good thing for policymakers to do.

Last year it was commented that China would no longer lend money to Ven. But it seems in Feb. 2017, they signed 22 accords with Ven. Chinese investment in Ven. going back up to ten years now totals $62 Billion. :o So will the Chinese send in there repo people when Ven. goes bust. :o

Then there is Russia. Seems the Russian oil company Rosneft loaned money to Ven. in exchange for 49.9% of Citgo. Yes, Citgo might be a major US oil company but it is owned by Venezuela. If Ven. cannot pay the loan, Rosneft just needs to buy a few more shares to get a controlling interest which is causing some US politicians to panic.
Read this on that - http://money.cnn.com/2017/04/10/news/ec ... any-citgo/

It seems those politicians in Ven. are putting up Ven. piece by piece has collateral. :o Doing such a thing is really idiotic. Really idiotic. Seems there has to be kickbacks in the play. Chances are when Ven. collapses many of those politicians will leave and spend the millions they have hidden in other nations.

Found this paper someone made on former Ven. Pres. Cipriano Castro. Cipriano Castro was pres. of Ven. starting in Oct. 1899. Most internet sources do not go into much detail on him. They just mention that he was kind of out of control. But according to this paper, he was in control and trying to to steer Ven. out of a storm made up of European nations and the US. Its unbelievable how corrupt part of Western society was back then. Anyway, could this be the reason Ven. is like it is. Its a good paper.

The government has tried to diversify. They have reached deals with certain gold mining companies. However, any deal means the govt. has a majortiy stake.

Read this on a Canadian company in Ven. - https://venezuelanalysis.com/news/11865

There is also plenty of illegal gold mining in Ven. Seem organized crime is deep into it. - Read this with photos - http://www.dw.com/en/venezuelas-illegal ... g-38104972
