Isn't it just exactly that, though? When I see the hipsters at university preaching against meat, Assad or China, it looks just like that...

"Those who reached my boundary, their seed is not; their hearts and their souls are finished forever and ever. As for those who had assembled before them on the sea, the full flame was their front before the harbour mouths, and a wall of metal upon the shore surrounded them. They were dragged, overturned, and laid low upon the beach; slain and made heaps from stern to bow of their galleys, while all their things were cast upon the water." - Ramesses III., Battle of the Delta

A bunch of bickering factions who likely weren't always punishing 'people cruelly to maintain order and civilisation' as you claim. They more than likely cruelly punished people in the name of the Senate and their own power, just like someone would in the name of the Crown.
"Th-the Senate totally was a united force that agreed on what would preserve their own power and totally weren't at each other's throats all the time =^^^("
Tell me more about how kings didn't convert their entire countries because 'muh swords'. Tell me more about how that is in service to tradition and public opinion.

I find it perfectly just to destroy religions that practice human sacrifice and are generally without virtue. Although I've never said the former or anything like it anyhow.

Because they love their religion and want people to understand and appreciate it as much as they do?

If I am an unpleasant human being, which I may well be when dealing with a thread of such unlikable folk as you all, then it would have nothing to do with my religion or ideology (whatever the latter is).

If I wanted to be judgemental and a Russian supremacist, I wouldn’t have chosen Orthodoxy.
Also, I attend a Syrian, not Russian church.

Fam, he wasn’t giving you sympathy. He compared you to Jack Chick. And there is no bigger liar in the Christian world than Jack Chick...except Joel Osteen and his bunch, but we’d be going off-topic. Nobody is giving you sympathy. We doubt that would get through your 8-inch lead wall of pretend humility. Remember that Catholics are Christians too,
This is a weird criticism. Where did Parkus ever claim Catholics are not Christians? No where, to my knowledge. All he said was that Catholics are 'interested in the sympathy of the world', to paraphrase, which is false but not exactly 'Catholics are no Christians'.and just because we are viewed as foolish doesn’t mean we have to actively perpetuate foolishness to the world. That’s your personal preference, and you have no right to try and drag the rest of the Christian world down for not being exactly like you.
What foolishness is Parkus perpetuating? Orthodoxy? Parkus, as I read it, only said that Christianity has and will be seen as foolish to many. If we are indeed seen as foolish, then we are already dragging ourselves down; to change this would require us to change our ways.

No, you're in it purely for moral reasons. Like a lot of Westerners.
Religion is about quite a bit more than ones personal morals however.
