How can you call yourself a Catholic while supporting the state that has effectively destroyed French Catholicism?

EDIT: Before you bullshit about how France is a Catholic country, let's look at some statistics:

Of SELF IDENTIFIED CATHOLICS:
>17% of French Catholics (who comprise 52% of the Catholic population) didn't believe in God. Among believers, most (79%) described God as a "force, energy, or spirit" and only 18% as a personal god.[31]

Of the entire French population: According to the Eurobarometer Poll 2010,[4]
27% of French citizens responded that "they believe there is a God".
27% answered that "they believe there is some sort of spirit or life force".
40% answered that "they do not believe there is any sort of spirit, God, or life force".

8% of the French population is Muslim, so that establishes that only 19% of non-Muslim French believe in a God.

That means, AT MAXIMUM, less than one-fifth of the French population is Catholic.

Moreover, only 4.5% of French people attend church services regularly.

This actually makes France one of the least Catholic countries on Earth.

The French Republic was literally worse for religion than the fucking Soviet Union (and, yes, I ran the damn numbers, there were more practicing Christians in a state that actually carried out persecutions of Christians for 70 years, than there are in France today, and that's by percentage). I don't see how any religious person can support it without being a masochist.

Only if you consider her the sole responsible for the current trend of Atheism in France which would be beyond retarded. Also, once more, mashing polls made on small numbers together is going to create unholy and unrepresentative shits, that's why no one serious do it and why you should imitate them.
Also, coming from a communist, that's rather rich to get called masochistic; didn't good ol' Karlo told you of his opinion when it came to Religion?

I'm not a communist anymore, and, as I state, more people actually attended Church in the Soviet Union than do in France today. In fact, by raw numbers, of people who practice their faith once a week, there are more practicing Muslims than Christians in France.

And the same is true in Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain unless I'm mistaken. It's something that is true for the West in general, sadly.
Pinpointing it on a single government form being the cause of it, somehow is not only stupid but also absurd.

Actually, no, several times more people go to Church in England, Germany, and Italy than in France. Italy is much more Catholic than France (37% of Italians go to Church weekly, compared to 4.5% of French people). In the UK, 20% of people go to Church, and in Spain, 19%. France is basically the least Catholic country out of all the old Catholic countries.

Laicite will do that to you.

Doesn't help matters that France's track record with religion and other human rights isn't stellar to begin with. Religious minorities are literally monitered by the french government. This isn't even touching on the shit they do to their historical faith of Catholicism. Let's not forget that one of the first acts the current incarnation of the French Government was literally to steal Catholic Church land.

Do you somehow think Muslim is a uniquely monolithic religion composed purely of Wahhabists?

You dint say anything about the other religious getting monitored. I mean Mormons and JW are annoying at times but I'm not sure they have an inherent danger to the French baguette production. The Zoroastrians? I'm sure they wont get in the way of your jambon eating but they sorta look line Muslims so obviously they're a danger to you. I'm just covering religions right now, my ammo will get upgraded from small arms to chemical if we start covering other human rights. I also noticed you didn't say anything to my accusation of French unilateral theft of property, so tell me who do you support in this the Catholic Church that you claim membership of or the French Government that you seem so fond of. Hmm? A man can not serve two masters so choose one.

http://pantheon.hrw.org/legacy/english/docs/2004/02/26/france7666.htm
Pardon me it seems Jews may actually be not far off from the France hate train http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/11422515/France-growing-more-racist-and-intolerant.html
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/belief/2016/feb/04/frances-official-blindness-to-religion-only-masks-religious-hatred

The fact is France is not a friendly place for religion be it muslim or christian or jew. This is not something that's a fringe belief this is true and really hard to deny in any meaningful way. When only 5% of the nation is failthfully catholic you can not claim to me that France is a Catholic or religion friendly place. Ironically As UMN points out France is more Muslim than it is Catholic and the Soviet Union's prosecution at it's height had more people (minorities and mainstream alike) observing religion than France does now. Even if you could argue France is not hostile to minority religions you could easily argue France is no longer religious.

Well yes that is the appeal some get from it. But I didn't mean far left I was talking more mainstream left wing. Even then the support for Assad on the left seems to be restricted to only the farthest left.

Well given we're only monitoring the extremists ones, your whole rant makes you just looks like you're grasping at straws. Which, to be fair, is exactly what you're doing. :^)
You dint say anything about the other religious getting monitored. I mean Mormons and JW are annoying at times but I'm not sure they have an inherent danger to the French baguette production.

We monitor sects indeed. We're far from being the only country to do that (Russia just did the right move by banning one of the aforementioned sect), and that's a good thing.
The Zoroastrians? I'm sure they wont get in the way of your jambon eating but they sorta look line Muslims so obviously they're a danger to you.

You mean the religion that has so little practicing members in France we don't even have numbers at all concerning but if we had they would probably be close to Germans' ones? (It's 300 just in case you wondered)
I mean, I'm not even sure why you're bringing them up apart from that dated meme of "hur dur u just hate brownies" but well, given the rest of your reflection, it seems you're assuming that everyone share your own racism. :^)

Oh, you actually really think you have a gotcha there? That's so cute! :lol2:
Sorry, mon petit, but if I didn't respond to that "point" of your, it's not because it was good but because it was shit. Kings have been seizing Church properties in Europe since way before the République existed and for the very same reason she did.
Anyway, it seems that centuries of submission to the Muslims majorly influenced the theology of you Orthoboos but I, unlike you it seems, remember Jésus' commend to "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"; my Faith is to the Church and my Loyalty to my Fatherland. :^)

In other words, Muslims bullying of jews is pushing them to move to Israel. Thanks for making my point for me. :^)

Do you somehow think Muslim is a uniquely monolithic religion composed purely of Wahhabists?

So, how can you support a country over your faith? You can't serve two masters.

Caesar is only Caesar if his authority is established by God. If we were loyal to the state over our Church, we would still be ruled by the Muslims, just like you are ruled by atheists.

How can you serve a state that hates God?

If you could be ruled by Muslims for over a millenia and a half and see no problem with that, why should I for being ruled by atheists, especially when my voice and vote have the potential to change that?

There are less conflicts for me to serve a state that doesn't recognize God than there ever was for you to serve under Mahomettans who have a perverted vision of him.

Except they don't. There are effectively no Christians in France.

Believing in God in some fashion is better than hating God entirely, which is what the French state does. If the French were to begin outlawing Christian practice, how long would it take for you to declare the French state being in the wrong? Or are you so blinded by your worship of blood & soil that you only tangentially care for your religion?

Certain far-left sorts are pro-Assad. I don't really know why. I've only seen it, I've not engaged with those people. Probably something about fighting US imperialism.

Assad is a Ba'athist. Ba'athism is a left-wing ideology. The bizarre thing is that right-wingers support him, not leftists.
