Because in the specific context, he is right also. Whatever D&D rules are in the manual? The DM doesn't have to follow them either. He can make up whatever kind of universe he or she wants without the guide's canon as well. The D&D manual is a guide, nothing more. If the DM wants to break canon, he or she can do so.

Heck, I remember reading through several variations of Cyberpunk's 2020 manuals of games. Including one where there are freakin' vampires.

Heh, I had the orginal game books, from version 1.0, the pages were typewritten.. My mother threw them out. I wasnt mad as they were written all over with my notes and the books because of that were worthless.

Meaning you can't just use it nilly-willy against a human NPC/Playable character. They have to use a saving throw and fail it first.

The fluff behind the ability, however, portrays it as relying on a literal heart, and portrays the ability as infallible, much like popular perceptions of the polygraph. Even though, in reality, there's massive debate within the scientific community regarding the validity of polygraph tests.

You still have to have the player being read into fail a save throw, so it's not like it matters whether or not the book portrays it as infallible.

A save throw of over 10 is usually a moderately difficult to very difficult throw anyways, depending on the die/dice used to make the rolls.

While I think your understanding of d&d universe is poor. It's a perfectly reasonable topic for tet and you did not derail the thread.

My friends and I have been getting woke tonight. We dug a bit into our college president's past and he was the President at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas from 2009 to 2012.

He tried pushing a statement of faith there that staff and faculty would have to sign, they held forums about, students widely opposed the statement of faith document and it appears that the idea was dropped. In 2012, the President did not have his contract renewed by the board of trustees. He came here in 2014 after working shortly at two other colleges as lower ranking faculty.

Interestingly, the Vice President of Academic Affairs here currently has also been here since 2014 and he was Vice President of Academic Affairs at Sterling College too, from 2009 to 2014.

My friends and I have the theory that this is their second attempt at doing this and they have learned to censor the student newspaper here and to hide the statement of faith document from students until too late to oppose it.

Your university's president seems like the kind of sleazebag I am not fond of as a Christian talking about another Christian.

I am not at all fond of a Christian trying to pull the stupid shit your president is trying to pull off.

We're working on it. We know a gay guy who is a student here who has a contact who works for the Asheville Citizen-Times.

We've spent the entire night digging deep searching for information on both our President's past and our Vice President of Academic Affair's past. We've learned some important things that we can use.

Also, we think it's beautiful that the only day its not forecast to rain this week is the same day we've scheduled our protest.
