Something I've been thinking about recently.

In general, most parents will disapprove of their teenage kids having sex. The most common reasons outside of religion are:
- Risk of pregnancy
- Risk of STDs
- Not emotionally mature enough

Here's my question - what happens when you throw homosexuality into the mix?

If your gay son has sex with his boyfriend, there is no risk of pregnancy (despite what fanfic says).

How would you react if you found out your gay teenage child was having sex, assuming you already knew he/she was gay?

EDIT: Turns out lesbians CAN transmit STDs. They just have a much lower rate of it.

Untrue. STDs can be passed by the exchange of bodily fluids - so depending on the kind of sex they were having, they could pass it - they're just a lot less likely to pass anything than other groups; which is good for me

I would make sure that my child would know all the risks and responsibilities of having sex. Homo or Hetero. I would also make sure that they don't pressure nor are they pressured to have sex "to prove [anything]"

That's probably why he said 'in general'. I think it's a fairly reasonable list of general reasons (as he specified, outside of religion) why parents are concerned. In fact, I'm not really sure what other reasons there could be...rape potential? Jealousy?

I think, at least in terms of guys, you kind of up the concern a notch when it comes to protection. I mean yeah, bum sexin' isn't exclusively for gayness, but...how do I say it delicately...there is one fewer 'place' for it to happen, so the total percentage of times it happens there is potentially greater. So however much you stress protection to a hetero kid, you stress it that much more to the gay one.

Golly, to be honest if I already knew they were gay I'd probably be numb past the point of caring. At best I'd probably try to know who it was, at least in general terms. Like, for instance, to make sure it wasn't some creepy old man or something that might manipulate them in a negative, mental way or something.

My hope is that if my son is gay (And at age 2, I'm not really thinking about his sexuality right now, more about trying to convince him to eat his food without a fight), is that he absorbed the lessons I (will hopefully have) taught him. I'd prefer that he DIDN'T do it as a teen, but I'm hardly able to say that without being labled a hypocrite. But should he find someone whom he does like, then by Skuld's Holy Hammer he better use protection. And if he is too embarrased or says he's broke, I will buy them for him.

And present them to his date, wrapped up in a little bow. I'm sure that will motovate him.
