It's probably just a matter of time until the filibuster is put down entirely. It's been gutted so much there's really no point in keeping it at this point.

Well?....I am sure the Republicans will be crying about this when the Demos are eventually back in control and not negotiating with them on issues.

So what? Reagan toasted Marcos at his daughter's birthday at the White House back in ye olde 1986. Of course, Reagan was also attempting to dismantle a previous administration's emphasis on human rights (even if Obama lacked the sheer gumption that Carter did) in foreign policy, which included meeting with dictators, opening dialogue to terrorists, and selling guns to "rogue states". Admittedly, Trump hasn't been caught red-handed giving guns to Russia though. Yet.

Duterte is just a less competent and stupider form of Marcos: The stereotypical Filipino strongman/kleptocrat. Just imagine this but a speech with the attention span and intellectual depth of a Twitter comment.

Besides, it's not like Trump hasn't met with Saudi oil sheiks or anything.

Human rights as a matter of foreign policy are extremely unimportant. Reagan was right to do what he did.

But he seems to know the names of multiple other foreign leaders.

Actually, the majority does want to get out (Considering the majority is Democrat, Independent, or even Moderate Republicans), it's just the minority that's holding us back (GOP Republicans). Hillary and Trump's PV results are proof enough.

Most of us want to catch up with the rest of the developed world, but it's the parasite that is the GOP just keeps pulling America down.

Without perpetuating the myth of the false equivalency that is often woven around the Democrats (centrists/liberals) and the Republicans (far-right) and how they're both bad and whatever, I don't see the Democrats as doing... good. An improvement over the Republicans, certainly, but not good. The Democrats themselves aren't in a "healthy place" either.
