Yeah, no way that will effect the climate at all.

I mean, Trump is trying to save the coal industry. To be fair, this will help petrochemical companies and coal producers to get access to more resources.

The problem is that coal is dying because it just can't compete with gas and nuclear, as well as renewable energy, so this is going to be Trump's greatest blunder in his presidency: failing to save an already dying industry.

Lets be honest - when you have the words "four billion" in a sentence, it's already pretty catastrophic regardless of what you finish it with. I mean you could say 4 billion pounds, and it would be quite bad. Or 4 billion litres. Or 4 billion kilograms.

On the upside, what Americans call a billion is around one million times less than what most people call a billion, so it could be worse :)

Still :-

8,000,000,000,000 (US) vs 8,816,000,000,000 (met) (both are in pounds).

So - either way - we are royally screwed.

I still find it somewhat funny that Republicans can claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility but think they can reduce the deficit with tax cuts.

That's the thing, they don't think they can, they know they can't.

However, they're eager to please their funders, who are generally ultra rich Republicans who would benefit most from tax cuts.

Yep.

And then they proceed to campaign around and target the people who benefit the least from their tax plans (Lower class, less educated, etc...) and get their votes to remain in power and continue fucking those people over, while raking a good chunk of the money that their funders are making from these cuts. It's an insanely dangerous positive feedback loop than has been causing problems for year now.

Only that they'll be biglier than Bush's. The bigliest ever, I suppose. Looks like we won't get any real details beyond that until the Republicans put something out.

If there's cuts for small business and whatnot I'd very likely fall under that category once I actually get things running.

So here's hoping they actually make things a bit better for the little guys and don't fuck it up.

Well, I reserve judgement until I see the proposal, but the implication that is applies only to corporations and pass through entities (IE, partnerships & s corps. could conceivably include estates and trusts, but I don't think that's what they had in mind).

This doesn't cover anywhere near the majority of small business owners, as this involves setting up a legal entity like a multi-member LLC or an s corp or an LLC that has elected to be treated like an s corp. Most small business owners are sole proprietors - which is not a pass through entity.

Now, this would prompt a lot of people (and very nearly 100% of my business clients) to form such an LLC or s corp, but that's not the same thing.
