The fact that the FDP will return to relevant existence is probably the most repulsive and disgusting thing about this entire election.

Repulsive? I'm not a fan of the FDP, but they're just spineless soft "libertarians" from what I can gather. Not ideal, but not repulsive, no?

They're pretty hardcore free-market believers and furtherfore have a considerable economically nationalist streak, which is not going to help European affairs in the sligthest.

I am familiar with them. They are the real enemies of Europe. Austrians have destroyed it twice and then successfully blamed the innocent Germans. Can you think of a more perfidious people? All peaceful looking and happy but actually, evil under the surface.

Also, they managed to lose four wars against France in a row, yet their emperor got to happily sit on his throne through all of it while the French emperor's fate was not quite as pleasant.

And their aversion to taxation and risk-sharing will ensure that Schauble has allies in sabotaging all further integration of Eurozone issues, at the very least.

Thankfully, as you and I have discussed at length, my kinfolk have been fighting & dying for & in the states as well for an exceptionally long time. Benefits of a big family that kept very close ties to Europe. Honestly, alot of them hoped Prussia & America would buddy-up tbh. guess that never worked out.

I like Angela Merkel. She's proven herself a devout humanitarian and I think more world leaders ought to be like that. That said, I'd like Germany to join the rest of the West in approving gay marriage. That sole issue aside, I don't know too much about the German socio-political issues of the day. (Have those 1 million immigrants strained public services or led to an economic boom, for example.)
