At my university, the campus police are state cops simply assigned to the university precinct.
So... What's the difference, exactly, that you wish to establish here?

Some private organizations have police departments. I want to know if those departments which are run by private organizations are funded by the same.

Depends on the organization.
Some of them are police enshrined with the full power of the state, others are more limited but remain tax payer funded, and others are straight up private goons that are not tax payer funded, directly at least.
Usually depends on how large the organization in question. For example, my university has over 49,000 students attending and over 10,000 students living on the campus. The Briarwood Church only has 4,100 attendees.
I have argued that the Church has no basis to argue necessity or the public good when universities and other campuses have much larger and specific needs that wouldn't otherwise be fulfilled by private security.

That's still a pretty good size. I'm sure they have their reasoning for wanting police instead of simple security.

The church wants to create a police force of one, to man a position that the local police can't fill because they're short-handed. Could the church not just set up a fund for the police force to hire another officer?

That is not what the article says. There is no mention of a one man police force.
It would not involve a jail or other facilities - basically an officer and an official car, he said. "I couldn't imagine it would be something more than that," Johnston said.

Could you imagine the scandal involved in that? "Local police PAID OFF by church!"
